Tata Motors has kicked off customer deliveries of the facelifted Tiago EV just weeks after its launch, marking another milestone for one of India’s most affordable electric hatchbacks. A video showing the handover of the first unit to a delighted customer has gone viral online, generating significant excitement among EV enthusiasts.
Tata Motors officially launched the 2026 Tiago EV facelift on May 28, 2026, alongside its ICE sibling. The electric variant starts at an attractive introductory price of ₹6.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base Smart variant. Prices go up to around ₹9.99 lakh for higher trims, making it one of the most accessible electric cars in the Indian market.
The model is available with two battery options — 19.2 kWh and 24 kWh — offering claimed ranges of up to approximately 285 km (ARAI). Tata has also highlighted significantly improved charging speeds on the facelift, with claims of adding around 100 km of range in roughly 18 minutes under fast-charging conditions.
The 2026 Tiago EV receives Tata’s most comprehensive update yet for the model:
- Exterior: Revised styling with sleeker LED headlamps, redesigned bumpers, new alloy wheels, and fresh color options for a sharper, more modern look.
- Interior: Updated cabin with a larger touchscreen infotainment system, improved materials, and new features focused on comfort and convenience.
- Safety: Six airbags as standard across the range, along with other structural and electronic enhancements.
- Features: Enhanced tech suite including a 360-degree camera on higher variants, automatic climate control, and connected car features.
Deliveries commenced in early June 2026. One of the earliest videos, shared from Progressive Tata dealership in Gujarat, captures the joyous moment of handing over the keys to the first customer. The dealership staff described it as the first delivery of the updated model from their outlet, highlighting strong initial demand.
Customers appear particularly pleased with the updated design, feature additions, and competitive pricing, especially with the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option that further lowers the entry barrier.
The Tiago EV has been a key player in Tata’s electric push, with the model family having sold nearly 75,000 units prior to this facelift. EVs already account for a significant portion of Tiago sales, and the updated version is expected to strengthen Tata’s position in the affordable EV segment against rivals like the Citroën eC3 and upcoming models.
With deliveries now underway across the country, the facelifted Tiago EV is poised to make electric mobility more accessible to first-time buyers and urban commuters looking for a practical, feature-rich daily driver.
