Mahindra’s electric SUV portfolio — comprising the BE 6, XEV 9e, and the newer XEV 9S — has crossed a significant milestone, with cumulative wholesale dispatches in India surpassing 65,000 units through April 2026. This achievement comes within roughly 16 months since the first deliveries of the Born Electric (INGLO platform) models began
The three models together recorded 65,615 wholesale units in the domestic market, with an additional 276 units exported, taking total production to 67,112 units.
While the overall volumes reflect strong adoption of Mahindra’s dedicated electric platform, a clear hierarchy has emerged in recent months. The XEV 9S (the family-oriented 7-seater) has gained significant traction and is now the dominant seller on a monthly basis, accounting for over 52% of Born Electric SUV dispatches in recent reporting periods. It has consistently outsold the BE 6 and XEV 9e combined in several recent months.
Cumulative Wholesale Breakdown (through April 2026):
- XEV 9e: 34,369 units
- BE 6: 20,108 units
- XEV 9S: 11,138 units
Total: 65,615 units
The XEV 9e, being one of the earlier launches, leads in cumulative sales. However, the XEV 9S — positioned as a practical 7-seater with competitive pricing and family-focused features — is rapidly closing the gap and driving recent growth.
Recent monthly figures highlight the shifting preference:
- In May 2026, the XEV 9S led Mahindra’s EV sales with 3,502 units, contributing over half of the brand’s electric dispatches that month.
- Strong performances have also seen the XEV 9S outperform several established ICE and EV rivals in individual months, including beating combined Tata Harrier (ICE + EV) sales in some periods.
This momentum underscores growing consumer confidence in Mahindra’s INGLO platform, which delivers competitive range, performance, and features tailored to Indian needs.
The 65,000+ milestone represents a solid foundation for Mahindra as it scales its electric offensive. The company has been ramping up production capacity, and the addition of the XEV 9S has broadened its appeal in the premium and family SUV segments.
With increasing retail share (reportedly reaching around 21% in some periods) and a healthy mix of first-time EV buyers, Mahindra is well-positioned to expand its footprint in India’s growing electric SUV market. The sharpening preference for the 7-seater XEV 9S also signals strong demand for spacious, value-packed electric options in the upper-mid segment.
As competition intensifies with new entries from rivals like JSW MG Motor, Mahindra’s Born Electric lineup continues to demonstrate robust demand, setting the stage for further growth in the second half of 2026 and beyond.
