The Ather Konarc electric scooter is all set to launch on 29 August 2026, and in the run-up to its highly anticipated debut the scooter has been spotted undergoing rigorous testing in the Himalayas. These high-altitude trials are expected to help Ather fine-tune the scooter’s performance, battery efficiency and reliability under extreme conditions before it reaches customers across India.

For the uninitiated, the Ather Konarc is the official name of the company’s new family scooter, which is based on the brand-new EL01 platform. Unlike Ather’s earlier offerings built around the sportier 450 platform, the Konarc has been designed from the ground up to prioritise comfort, practicality and affordability.

The EL01 architecture allows for a more upright riding position, greater under-seat storage, a spacious floorboard and overall ergonomics better suited to everyday family use and longer rides. This shift in focus addresses a gap Ather had long recognised. While the 450 series delivered strong performance and a premium riding experience, it was never intended as a pure family scooter.

The Konarc aims to change that equation by bringing Ather’s engineering expertise into a more accessible and practical package that can compete effectively in the high-volume electric scooter segment

With the official launch just two weeks away at Ather’s Annual Community Day, the Himalayan testing runs mark one of the final stages of development. Buyers can look forward to a scooter that combines the reliability and connected features Ather is known for with a more approachable design and price point tailored for Indian families. Full specifications, pricing and variant details are expected to be revealed on 29 August when the Konarc makes its official debut.
