The Ather Konarc electric scooter is all set to launch on 29 August 2026, and in the run-up to its debut the scooter was spotted undergoing testing in the Himalayas. For the uninitiated, the Ather Konarc is the official name of Ather’s new family scooter, which is based on the brand-new EL01 platform. The scooter focuses on offering comfort, practicality and affordability, something that was difficult for Ather to achieve with the sportier 450X platform.

Built on the scalable EL architecture that was first previewed through the EL01 concept, the Konarc has been engineered as a mainstream family-oriented electric scooter. It prioritises everyday usability with a more upright riding position, spacious floorboard and comfortable seating designed for Indian family needs, while keeping the overall cost of ownership in check. Unlike the performance-focused 450 series, this new model is positioned to appeal to a wider audience looking for a practical and accessible electric mobility solution.Ahead of the official launch at Ather’s Annual Community Day, the Konarc completed rigorous high-altitude and cold-weather testing in the Himalayas.

The scooter underwent nearly 60 days of evaluation in temperatures ranging from -4 degrees Celsius to 3 degrees Celsius. These trials assessed battery performance, peak efficiency, charging behaviour in sub-zero conditions and overall all-weather capability, ensuring the scooter is prepared for the diverse climatic conditions found across India.

The Ather Konarc will come with a 200 km range, giving buyers the confidence for longer daily commutes and occasional extended rides without frequent charging stops. Combined with the practical design of the EL platform, this range capability strengthens its appeal as a versatile family electric scooter. With the launch just two weeks away, complete specifications, pricing and availability details are expected to be revealed on 29 August, marking an important step for Ather as it expands into the high-volume segment of India’s electric two-wheeler market.
