India’s electric two-wheeler market maintained strong momentum in July 2026, with the leading electric scooter models collectively recording 1,68,743 units, according to dispatch data compiled by Auto Punditz. The July tally represents a sharp 168% increase compared with 63,010 units in July 2025. On a sequential basis, volumes were also higher by around 16% from 1,45,718 units in June 2026, underscoring sustained consumer interest in electric mobility despite seasonal factors.
TVS Motor’s iQube continued to lead the segment, driving much of the overall growth as the brand expanded its presence across urban and semi-urban markets. The strong performance of established players like TVS and Bajaj Auto, alongside contributions from other major models, helped the top electric scooters achieve this record collective volume.
This surge reflects improved product offerings, wider charging infrastructure, and growing buyer confidence in the reliability and cost savings of electric two-wheelers.The rapid expansion has pushed electric two-wheelers to capture a larger share of the overall scooter market, with penetration rates climbing significantly year-on-year. Legacy manufacturers have leveraged their extensive dealer networks to accelerate adoption, while competition among brands has intensified product development and pricing strategies. As a result, electric scooters are increasingly becoming a mainstream choice for daily commuting rather than a niche alternative.
Looking ahead, the July figures signal that the electric two-wheeler segment is poised for continued expansion through the rest of 2026. With demand spreading beyond metro cities and manufacturers ramping up production capacity, the industry appears well-positioned to build on this momentum and further elevate the role of electric mobility in India’s two-wheeler landscape.
