Tesla Launches Model Y L in India at ₹61.99 Lakh; A Premium 6-Seater AWD Electric SUV

Tesla has officially expanded its Indian portfolio with the launch of its second product, the Model Y L. Priced at ₹61.99 lakh (ex-showroom), this new entrant is a long-wheelbase, six-seater version of the popular Model Y. While the official launch event is scheduled for later today in Mumbai, Tesla has already updated its India website with live pricing and booking details.

Positioned between the Model Y Premium RWD (₹59.89 lakh) and the Long Range RWD (₹67.89 lakh), the Model Y L is being hailed as the most value-for-money offering in Tesla’s current lineup, especially considering it comes standard with All-Wheel Drive (AWD).

The “L” in the name signifies the long-wheelbase nature of this EV, which has been stretched to accommodate a family-friendly 2+2+2 seating configuration.

  • Second Row: Features two individual captain seats with retractable inner armrests. These seats offer power two-way folding, heating, and ventilation for a “business-class” experience.
  • Third Row: Includes 50:50 split-folding seats, dedicated AC vents mounted on the C-pillars, and USB Type-C ports.
  • Dimensions: At 4,976 mm in length, it is 186 mm longer than the standard Model Y. The wheelbase has grown by 150 mm to 3,040 mm, significantly increasing legroom for rear passengers.

Despite its larger size, the Model Y L remains a performance powerhouse. It is imported as a CBU (Completely Built Unit) from Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory.

Notably, the Model Y L also features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) bi-directional charging, allowing owners to power appliances or electronic devices directly from the car’s battery.

While the silhouette remains classic Tesla, the Model Y L gets a few exclusive touches:

  • Wheels: New 19-inch Machina 2.0 alloy wheels.
  • Colors: A new Silver color option exclusive to the L variant.
  • Technology: An 18-speaker Tesla Audio system, acoustic glass for a quieter cabin, and an updated adaptive suspension system to handle Indian road conditions.
  • Connectivity: Full integration with the Tesla ecosystem, including live traffic visualization, satellite maps, and in-car streaming for YouTube, Netflix, and Spotify.

Bookings are now open on Tesla’s India website, with deliveries expected to commence in June 2026. Customers can experience the vehicle starting tomorrow, April 23, at Tesla experience centers in BKC (Mumbai), Aerocity (Delhi), and Gurugram.

Tesla is also aggressively scaling its charging infrastructure, with seven new Supercharger stations planned on major highways connecting Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Pune to support long-distance family travel.
