Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the much-awaited facelifted version of its popular entry-level electric hatchback, the Tata Tiago EV, in 2026. The updated model is expected to bring significant improvements, particularly in its powertrain, to stay competitive in the rapidly evolving Indian EV market.
According to recent reports, the 2026 Tata Tiago EV facelift will come with two battery pack options, focusing on better range and efficiency:
- The entry-level 19.2 kWh battery pack (previously offered as the base option) will be discontinued.
- The earlier 24 kWh pack will now become the new standard battery option.
- A larger 30 kWh battery pack will be introduced as the top option, promising a claimed range of around 366 km on a single charge.
This marks a notable upgrade over the current Tiago EV, which offers:
- 19.2 kWh battery → 223 km range
- 24 kWh battery → 293 km range (ARAI claimed)
The new 30 kWh unit is expected to borrow technology from Tata’s more recent EV platforms (similar to the Punch EV), delivering substantially better real-world usability for city and highway commutes.
While the primary buzz is around the battery upgrade, the Tiago EV facelift has been spotted testing with several cosmetic and functional updates, including:
- Revised front-end design with new headlamps and LED DRLs
- Updated bumpers and possibly new alloy wheel designs
- Refreshed tail lamps with an LED light bar
- Interior enhancements such as a larger touchscreen, updated digital cluster, and improved features
Tata is also expected to add more modern features like a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, and possibly a sunroof on higher variants to make the car more appealing.
The current Tiago EV is priced between ₹7.99 lakh and ₹11.14 lakh (ex-showroom). With the battery upgrades and feature additions, the facelifted model is likely to see a modest price increase. It is expected to launch in the second half of 2026, possibly around mid to late 2026.
The Tiago EV has been one of Tata’s most accessible electric offerings, ideal for first-time EV buyers and city users. By ditching the smallest battery and introducing a 30 kWh option with nearly 366 km range, Tata aims to address range anxiety and strengthen its position against rivals in the entry-level EV segment.
The updated Tiago EV will sit below the Punch EV in Tata’s lineup while offering a more hatchback-friendly package for those who prefer a compact footprint with improved efficiency and range
