Madhusudan Sahu @MadhusudanSahuu )recently spent time with the Mahindra BE 6 SPORTEQ and shared his first impressions after driving the electric SUV on real-world roads. His overall feeling was clear from the start: the BE 6 feels very different from a conventional SUV.
Despite its aggressive and modern exterior design, the cabin came across as more compact than expected. The interior space does not deliver the roomy feel many traditional SUVs offer, creating a tighter, more intimate driving environment. Almost every control, including the air-conditioning functions, is handled through the large touchscreen. While this approach looks clean and modern, Sahu found himself looking away from the road more often than he preferred during everyday driving. He noted that physical buttons or dials would have made regular use more convenient and less distracting.
The three-screen setup adds a futuristic character to the dashboard, yet the placement felt slightly intrusive to his forward visibility. Coming from a Hyundai Creta with its cleaner and more open dashboard view, the arrangement took some getting used to. On the performance side, Boss Mode delivered serious punch. The instant acceleration typical of electric vehicles proved addictive, though Sahu cautioned that the throttle needs careful handling because a substantial amount of power becomes available immediately.
Road manners surprised him positively. Even though it is an electric vehicle, the BE 6 did not feel delicate on broken surfaces. The suspension absorbed uneven and damaged roads comfortably and gave the car a slightly rugged character that suited Indian conditions well. The fixed glass roof with its party-light feature adds visual appeal and a sense of openness, but the fact that it cannot be opened remains a trade-off rather than a complete deal-breaker for him.
Seats provided good comfort overall, although Sahu was less impressed with the quality of the seat material. A practical plus was the availability of a spare wheel, something he always appreciates, particularly for longer road trips across India.
His final takeaway is that the Mahindra BE 6 SPORTEQ has been designed around technology, performance and a younger, more engaging driving experience rather than traditional SUV familiarity. It felt more naturally suited to solo driving or outings with friends than to someone seeking a conventional family SUV. At the same time, the combination of instant electric performance and capable suspension is something he thoroughly enjoyed.
