Chennai-based electric vehicle startup Raptee has made a significant step forward in its journey by delivering its first customer purchases of the flagship T30 electric bike in Bengaluru. The company’s experience centre in the city opened this year. Now it has shifted gears from product display to actual ownership. The company has ambitious goals to deliver more than 100 units in Bengaluru and Chennai before November, as it looks to scale up its fulfilment capabilities in southern India.

The T30 electric bike stands out in the Indian two-wheeler segment for its high-voltage HV-Tec technology, which has been adopted from electric cars. It can be charged quickly using the CCS2 standard used in four-wheelers. Compatible with both two and four-wheeler chargers, the T30 can utilise the growing public charging infrastructure for cars as well. With a claimed IDC range of around 200 km, it can offer practical and flexible performance while being able to achieve a real-world range of around 150 kilometres. Powered by an electric motor delivering around 29.5 horsepower and 70 Nm of torque, the T30 aims to match the performance of a 300cc petrol bike.

At a price of ₹2.39 lakh ex-showroom, the T30 electric bike comes with an impressive ownership package. A battery warranty of eight years and a vehicle warranty of three years, along with single-point contact resolution and roadside assistance, show the company’s confidence in its product. Raptee.HV has spent more than seven years in research and development to create a high-voltage electric motorcycle suitable for the Indian conditions.

Bengaluru, the start-up’s latest delivery market, is home to many early technology adopters and environmentally conscious professionals who are willing to spend on premium electric vehicles. By setting up its sales and service network in the city, the company will now be able to offer its customers a seamless ownership experience right from the point of sale. While the company targets to sell more than 100 units in Bengaluru and Chennai by November, its focus on scaling up its fulfilment capabilities in its southern markets will ensure that the sales growth is sustainable.

For a young start-up, battling both two-wheeler giants as well as other electric vehicle start-ups, the shift from experience centre visitors to actual customer deliveries will be crucial. As more and more T30 electric bikes are delivered in Bengaluru and Chennai in the coming weeks, Raptee.HV will be looking to use its product to penetrate deeper into South Indian cities and then move towards western India.
