Mercedes-Benz Launches 2026 CLA EV in India at Rs. 55 Lakh

Mercedes-Benz India has officially expanded its “Electric First” strategy with the highly anticipated launch of the 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA EV. Marking the return of the iconic CLA nameplate to the Indian market after a six-year hiatus, the all-new electric sedan is positioned as the new gateway to the brand’s luxury EV universe.

The 2026 CLA EV enters the market with a competitive starting price of Rs. 55 lakh, effectively replacing previous entry models like the A-Class Limousine and EQA in the brand’s hierarchy. Mercedes-Benz is offering the sedan in three distinct trims to cater to different range and performance needs:

VariantBattery PackWLTP RangePrice (Ex-Showroom)
CLA 200 (Progressive Line)58 kWh (LFP)542 kmRs. 55.00 Lakh
CLA 250+ (AMG Line)85.5 kWh (NMC)792 kmRs. 59.00 Lakh
CLA 250+ (Launch Edition)85.5 kWh (NMC)792 kmRs. 64.00 Lakh

Built on the Mercedes Modular Architecture (MMA), the CLA EV is designed to lead its class in efficiency and charging speeds.

  • Segment-Leading Range: The top-spec CLA 250+ boasts a massive 792 km (WLTP) range, alleviating any range anxiety for long-distance highway travel.
  • Ultra-Fast Charging: Utilizing an 800V electrical architecture, the sedan supports DC fast charging up to 320 kW. This allows the car to recoup nearly 300 km of range in just 10 minutes.
  • Sleek Aerodynamics: With a drag coefficient ($C_d$) of just 0.21, the CLA EV is one of the most aerodynamic production cars in India, contributing to its impressive real-world efficiency.

The cabin is a significant leap forward, borrowing high-tech elements from the flagship EQS.

  • MBUX Superscreen: The high-end variants feature a pillar-to-pillar glass display that integrates the instrument cluster, central infotainment, and a dedicated passenger screen.
  • AI Integration: The new MBUX Virtual Assistant is powered by advanced AI (including Gemini and ChatGPT integration), capable of understanding natural language and even adapting its tone based on the driver’s mood.
  • Luxury Features: Standard equipment includes Level 2+ ADAS, a 16-speaker Burmester sound system, and sustainably sourced interior materials.

The return of the CLA badge is already proving to be a masterstroke for Mercedes-Benz India. The company confirmed that it has already secured over 400 bookings since the pre-order window opened.

“We are not just launching a new car; we are redefining the entry-level luxury experience,” said Santosh Iyer, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India. “The CLA EV combines the emotional design our Indian customers loved in the original CLA with the future-proof technology of our MMA platform.”

Deliveries are scheduled to commence later this month, with the company prioritizing the “Launch Edition” units for the first wave of customers. The CLA EV will compete directly with the BYD Seal and the BMW i4 in the burgeoning premium electric sedan segment.
