Lexus has unveiled the updated NX luxury SUV, bringing refreshed exterior styling, changes to cabin layout and upgrades to its hybrid powertrains. The 2027 Lexus NX comes with upgrades in the powertrain and major revisions in the cabin, along with the feature list, positioning the popular compact luxury crossover as a more refined and capable offering for the electrified era. The key change is for the NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid, which receives a larger battery, more than 100km of claimed electric-only range and, for the first time, DC fast-charging capability.
The exterior revisions give the NX a sharper, more contemporary presence while retaining its distinctive Lexus character. Updates centre on a reworked front fascia with a refined interpretation of the signature spindle grille, revised headlights that incorporate adaptive high-beam functionality along with cornering and fog lighting, and subtle changes to the rear lighting and bumpers. These styling tweaks help the mid-cycle refresh look fresher without altering the overall proportions significantly, though the vehicle is slightly longer than before. Inside, the cabin undergoes a more substantial transformation. Lexus has redesigned the dashboard with a cleaner, more driver-focused layout inspired by recent models such as the new ES. A larger 14-inch central touchscreen becomes standard across the range, paired with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, delivering sharper graphics and faster response times thanks to improved processing power. The steering wheel is smaller for a more engaging feel, the seating position has been lowered to bring the driver closer to the vehicle’s centre of gravity, and physical controls have been thoughtfully integrated alongside the digital interfaces. A new Sensory Concierge system personalises the cabin atmosphere through ambient lighting and fragrance options, enhancing the premium experience.
Powertrain improvements form the heart of the update. In many markets the range becomes hybrid-only, with the pure petrol NX 350 discontinued. The self-charging NX 350h benefits from a lighter lithium-ion battery and refinements to the cooling system and sixth-generation hybrid technology, improving efficiency and response. The flagship NX 450h+ plug-in hybrid sees the most significant advances. Its lithium-ion battery capacity increases by approximately 30 percent from 18 kWh to 23 kWh, enabling a claimed electric-only range of more than 100 km under the WLTP cycle (over 40 miles on the EPA estimate). Combined system output rises to around 303–322 horsepower depending on the market, with stronger acceleration. For the first time on a Lexus plug-in hybrid, the NX 450h+ supports DC fast charging, allowing a 10 to 80 percent charge in roughly 30 minutes. An integrated e-Axle design reduces weight and improves packaging, while chassis reinforcements, retuned suspension and enhanced rigidity deliver sharper handling and a quieter, more composed ride. Towing capacity also increases to 1,500 kg on both hybrid variants.
These upgrades make the updated NX more versatile for everyday electric driving while retaining the flexibility of hybrid power for longer journeys. Lexus has not yet announced an India launch timeline for the facelifted NX. Global market introductions are expected to begin towards the end of 2026, with European deliveries scheduled for spring 2027. As one of Lexus’s strongest-selling models worldwide, the refreshed NX strengthens the brand’s position in the competitive premium compact SUV segment with greater efficiency, modern technology and elevated refinement.
