The Range Rover Electric is built on the Flexible Modular Longitudinal Architecture, the same platform that underpins the petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid versions, ensuring familiar proportions and a commanding road presence. Twin permanent-magnet electric motors, one on each axle, deliver a combined output of around 543 to 550 hp and an impressive 850 Nm of instantaneous torque. This powertrain propels the large SUV from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds, with strong overtaking performance that allows it to surge from 80 to 120 km/h in as little as 2.7 seconds. The electric drivetrain is also the quietest Range Rover yet, offering refined, silent progress that enhances the cabin’s renowned sense of serenity.
Energy comes from a substantial 118.5 kWh lithium-ion battery arranged in a double-stacked configuration with 344 prismatic cells and operating on an advanced 800-volt architecture. Official WLTP range figures reach up to 600 km on a full charge, while the manufacturer quotes a realistic real-world range of approximately 535 km under everyday conditions. Charging is equally impressive: connected to a 350 kW DC fast charger, the battery can climb from 10 to 80 per cent in about 22 minutes. A quick 10-minute top-up is capable of adding around 220 km of range, making longer journeys far more practical.
Despite the shift to electric power, off-road ability remains a core strength. An Integrated Traction Management system reacts in as little as 50 milliseconds, far quicker than traditional systems, while Intelligent Driveline Dynamics can send 100 per cent of rear-motor torque to either rear wheel as needed. The vehicle can climb slopes of up to 45 degrees in single-pedal mode, pull away smoothly on gradients of 33 degrees, and wade through water up to 900 mm deep. These attributes ensure the Range Rover Electric continues the brand’s tradition of all-terrain mastery without compromise.
Visually the electric model stays true to the classic Range Rover design, with only subtle aerodynamic refinements such as an optimised front grille, special wheels and a tailored underbody. Inside, the luxurious cabin features a large central touchscreen, a fully digital driver’s display with EV-specific graphics, and the same high-quality materials and craftsmanship expected of the nameplate. Owners can manage charging schedules, cabin preconditioning, heated steering wheel activation and vehicle location remotely through the Range Rover app. The battery itself carries an eight-year or 1.6 lakh km warranty and benefits from a sophisticated digital twin system that continuously monitors hundreds of diagnostic parameters, supported by over-the-air software updates.
In India, bookings are currently open for the standard-wheelbase model in Autobiography and exclusive First Edition trims, the latter available in distinctive Belgravia Green, Santorini Black and Varesine Blue exterior colours. Long-wheelbase versions can be reserved in SV, SV Ultra and SV Black specifications. The vehicle will arrive as a fully imported model produced at JLR’s Solihull plant in the United Kingdom. While official pricing is yet to be announced, industry expectations place the starting figure in the region of ₹3.5 crore ex-showroom, reflecting its ultra-luxury positioning and the absence of tariff benefits under the India-UK free trade agreement for pure electric vehicles.
