It is positioned as a sophisticated family-oriented premium SUV that combines global design language, advanced technology, and practical three-row seating.

Reports indicate the India-spec Sorento will launch with two powertrain options:

  • A 1.6-litre turbo-petrol strong hybrid (Kia’s first hybrid SUV for India), expected to deliver refined performance and improved efficiency. Globally, similar setups produce around 238 hp and 380 Nm.
  • A diesel option for buyers seeking traditional torque and highway capability.

All-wheel-drive may be offered on higher variants. The vehicle is expected to be assembled in India (CKD route according to several reports), which should help with competitive pricing.Inside, the cabin is anticipated to feature dual large displays (around 12/12.3-inch), a modern four-spoke steering wheel, premium materials, dual-zone climate control, ventilated and power-adjustable front seats, panoramic sunroof, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and Level 2 ADAS safety systems.

While official prices are yet to be revealed, industry expectations place the starting price around ₹40 lakh (ex-showroom), with higher variants climbing further. At this range, the Sorento will compete directly with the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tayron, Jeep Meridian, MG Majestor, and other premium three-row SUVs.

The Sorento has earned strong global recognition, with millions of units sold across numerous markets. Its arrival marks a significant step for Kia India as the brand continues expanding its portfolio into higher segments with electrified powertrains.Interested buyers can secure their place by pre-booking now through the official link or nearest dealership.
