Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has taken a major step toward accelerating electric mobility in the country by integrating access to more than 30,000 EV charging points through its myHyundai mobile application. This expansion transforms the myHyundai app into one of the most comprehensive charging platforms available in India, open to Hyundai owners as well as drivers of electric vehicles from other brands.

The updated myHyundai app now serves as a unified digital platform that allows users to:

  • Locate nearby charging stations in real-time
  • Check real-time availability and charger status
  • Book charging slots in advance
  • Complete seamless digital payments

This interoperability is particularly significant in a market where fragmented charging networks have been a key barrier to wider EV adoption. By aggregating chargers from multiple operators into a single interface, Hyundai is addressing one of the biggest pain points for Indian EV customers — range anxiety and the hassle of managing multiple apps.

A standout feature of this initiative is that the network is not restricted to Hyundai vehicles. Owners of electric cars from Tata, MG, Mahindra, Ola, Ather, and other brands can also download the myHyundai app and utilize the extensive charging infrastructure. This open-access approach reflects Hyundai’s strategy to support the broader EV ecosystem rather than operating in isolation.

India’s electric vehicle sector is expanding rapidly, driven by government incentives under the FAME-II scheme, state-level policies, and falling battery prices. However, inadequate public charging infrastructure remains a critical challenge, especially outside major metropolitan areas.

Hyundai’s move comes at a time when the company is also strengthening its own EV portfolio. With models like the Ioniq 5, Kona Electric, and upcoming launches in the pipeline, the company is aligning its product offensive with robust charging support.“By providing access to over 30,000 charging points, we are making electric mobility more convenient and accessible for Indian customers,” a Hyundai spokesperson noted. “This ecosystem approach is key to building confidence in EVs.”

While Hyundai has not disclosed the complete list of charging partners in the announcement, such large-scale aggregations typically involve collaborations with major players like:

  • Tata Power
  • ChargeZone
  • Statiq
  • Zeon Charging
  • PlugShare partners
  • Government-backed public chargers

The integration likely uses API connections and roaming agreements, allowing the myHyundai app to pull live data from multiple networks.

For EV owners, the advantages are substantial:

  • Convenience: No need to switch between different charging apps during long trips.
  • Transparency: Real-time information on charger speed (AC vs DC), pricing, and availability.
  • Cost Management: Unified billing and potential loyalty or subscription benefits.
  • Pan-India Coverage: Improved viability for inter-city and highway travel.

Industry experts believe that such customer-centric digital solutions will play a crucial role in India’s target of 30% EV penetration in private vehicles by 2030. Reliable charging access is often cited as more important than vehicle pricing for mass adoption.Hyundai’s initiative also sets a precedent for other OEMs. Traditional automakers are increasingly realizing that owning the entire customer journey — from purchase to daily usage and charging — is essential in the EV era.

This charging network expansion is likely just the beginning. Hyundai is expected to further enhance the app with features such as:

  • Trip planning with charging stops
  • Predictive availability based on traffic and usage patterns
  • Integration with vehicle telematics for optimized charging suggestions
  • Potential subscription-based “charging membership” plans

As India’s charging infrastructure scales from thousands to lakhs of points in the coming years, platforms that offer seamless user experience will gain significant competitive advantage.Hyundai’s bold digital play not only strengthens its position in the Indian EV market but also contributes meaningfully to the national goal of sustainable transportation.

For EV buyers today, the message is clear: charging your vehicle just became a lot simpler.
