The all-Electric SUV will have twin LFP batteries, an expected range of more than 500km and competitive pricing. Honda Cars India has confirmed that the production-ready version of the company’s new all-electric SUV, the Honda 0 Alpha, will launch globally in India on December 2, 2026. This will be a milestone moment for the Japanese automotive giant as it marks the arrival of its first completely electric passenger vehicle for India and globally its first electric SUV. It will form part of Honda’s wider electrification strategy and is one of seven SUVs they plan to launch in India by 2030. The 0 Alpha is based on the concept car revealed at the Japan Mobility Show back in October 2025. Production vehicles have been extensively tested across the country since March 2026 on highways, city roads, off-road, extreme weather conditions and charging conditions. T

he 0 Alpha will be manufactured at Honda’s Tapukara plant in Rajasthan. It will be a key selling market for the brand but will also be produced in India globally. The SUV is based on a dedicated ‘Thin, Light and Wise’ electric 0 Series platform and focuses on giving plenty of room inside. The car should be a compact to midsize SUV with a wheelbase of around 2700mm-2800mm. This will give plenty of space inside for five passengers and a practical boot thanks to its tall body and flat floor. The production model will keep many of the key design features of the concept car.

It will have a bold boxy design, square LED headlights, tall front bumper, aerodynamic wheels, vertical LED tail lights and an elevated brake light. Inside we expect a large standalone touchscreen infotainment system, full digital dashboards, physical AC buttons and modern tech. The 0 Alpha will have two battery options. Both will be of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) to cater to the Indian market and price. They will have a size between 65kWh and 75kWh. This is expected to provide a claimed range of more than 500km on a full charge. Real-world driving range should be between 400-500km.

The car will come with a single front mounted electric motor with just front-wheel drive. A twin motor AWD option may also be available. Fast charging will be available providing a big charge. Reports suggest it can charge from 15-80% or 20-80% in around 10-15 minutes. The price has not been officially confirmed but is expected to fall within the ₹17-25 lakh range (Ex-showroom). Multiple sources have said it will be priced from ₹17-22 lakh. This puts the model in competition with existing and upcoming mid-sized electric SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Tata Sierra EV and Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella.

The car should start being delivered to customers in early 2027. On its December 2 launch the car will have its final design, name (Expected to be confirmed in November), specification and features. It will also mark Honda’s first EV for sale to the mass market in India. It shows the brand’s move to creating electric vehicles designed specifically for Indian roads and customers.
