Hero MotoCorp’s electric mobility brand, Vida, has expanded its popular VX2 lineup with the launch of the new VX2 Plus 4.4 kWh variant. Positioned as the flagship model in the family, it brings a significantly larger battery pack, improved range, and better performance for riders seeking longer commutes with reduced range anxiety.

The Vida VX2 Plus 4.4 kWh has been launched at an effective ex-showroom price of ₹1,43,990 in New Delhi (inclusive of applicable state incentives and offers). Without subsidies, the scooter is priced at around ₹1.51 lakh.

Deliveries across India are slated to begin by the end of July 2026 through authorised Vida dealerships. The company is also offering a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) subscription model, which allows buyers to purchase the scooter at a significantly lower upfront cost while paying a separate monthly fee for battery usage. This flexible ownership option makes premium electric mobility more accessible.

Battery, Range, and Performance

The standout feature of the new variant is its 4.4 kWh battery pack, consisting of two removable 2.2 kWh lithium-ion batteries. This delivers:

  • IDC-certified range: 187 km (a substantial 41 km improvement over the 3.4 kWh variant’s 146 km).
  • Claimed real-world Eco range: Approximately 140 km.

Power comes from a 6 kW (approx. 8 bhp) electric motor producing 26 Nm of peak torque. Key performance figures include:

  • Top speed: 90 km/h (up from 80 km/h on the 3.4 kWh model)
  • 0-40 km/h acceleration: 3.1 seconds
  • Riding modes: Eco, Ride, and Sport, plus a Boost function for quick overtakes

The dual removable batteries enhance practicality, allowing easy swapping or home charging.

Features and Practicality

The scooter retains the stylish design of the VX2 series while adding practical upgrades. Key highlights include:

  • 4.3-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation
  • Over-the-air (OTA) updates
  • All-LED lighting
  • 27.2-litre under-seat storage + additional front storage
  • Front disc brake with rear drum and Combined Braking System (CBS)
  • Regenerative braking
  • Reverse and Park modes
  • 12-inch alloy wheels
  • Kerb weight: Around 120 kg

These features make it suitable for both daily urban use and occasional longer trips.

Record-Breaking Pedigree

To showcase real-world reliability, the VX2 Plus 4.4 kWh completed a remarkable 12,111 km cross-country journey over 52 days, earning a place in the Asia Book of Records for the “Longest Journey by an Electric Scooter.” The ride, from Bengaluru to Delhi, covered diverse Indian road conditions and IPL host cities.

Market Positioning

The Vida VX2 Plus 4.4 kWh directly competes with models like the TVS iQube and Ola S1 series in the premium electric scooter segment. With Hero MotoCorp’s vast service network (700+ touchpoints) and focus on removable batteries plus BaaS, the brand aims to address common EV concerns around cost, range, and ownership flexibility.

Kausalya Nandakumar, Chief Business Officer, Emerging Mobility Business Unit at Hero MotoCorp, emphasized that the innovations reflect customer demands for longer range and faster charging.

The launch of the VX2 Plus 4.4 kWh strengthens Vida’s portfolio and signals Hero’s serious push into the growing Indian electric two-wheeler market. With deliveries starting soon, interested buyers can visit authorised dealerships or the official Vida website for bookings and test rides.
