Hyundai Motor Group’s luxury division introduces its largest, most advanced electric SUV to date, featuring a world-first roof airbag, coach doors, and Rolls-Royce-level cabin tech. Genesis has officially pulled the covers off the highly anticipated GV90. As the brand’s new flagship electric SUV, this massive vehicle represents the pinnacle of Hyundai Motor Group’s engineering and luxury ambitions. Moving far beyond the brand’s traditional “value-luxury” reputation, the GV90 targets the highest echelon of the automotive market.

Unveiled in San Francisco, the GV90 stands as Genesis’ first full-size three-row electric SUV and its most powerful electric vehicle yet. Measuring more than 208 inches in length with a 127.8-inch wheelbase, it delivers commanding road presence while accommodating up to seven passengers. Dual electric motors produce a combined 657 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, paired with a substantial 123.5 kWh battery—the largest capacity in the Hyundai Motor Group lineup. Genesis estimates a range of approximately 311 miles under internal testing, with the ability to recharge from 10 to 80 percent in about 22 minutes using a 350 kW fast charger.

The range-topping GV90 Neolun variant introduces one of the model’s most striking features: the Neolun Arch Gate. These independently opening and closing coach doors conceal the B-pillar, creating a wide, pillarless opening that evokes limousine-style entry. Genesis engineered the system to deliver crash performance equivalent to conventional structures, ensuring both drama and practicality. Inside, the cabin elevates the experience further with motorized seats that can swivel 180 degrees for face-to-face conversation, heated floors, and sumptuous materials including cashmere, natural wood, leather and stone.

Safety innovation takes center stage with a comprehensive 12-airbag system that includes the world’s first roof airbag. Designed to deploy across the panoramic glass roof during a severe rollover, it aims to protect occupants from ejection and contact injuries—an industry first. Complementary technologies such as advanced air suspension, rear-wheel steering and dual electronic limited-slip differentials enhance both comfort and dynamic control.

Technology and entertainment reach new heights as well. A large pop-up OLED cinematic display expands for an immersive viewing experience when parked, while a 25-inch head-up display keeps critical information in the driver’s line of sight. A 25-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system with Dolby Atmos fills the cabin with refined audio, completing an atmosphere that prioritizes sensory indulgence over minimalism.

By combining dramatic design elements, pioneering safety features and genuine ultra-luxury appointments, the GV90 signals Genesis’ clear intent to compete directly with established elite brands. The model is expected to arrive in early 2027, positioning the Korean luxury marque as a serious contender in the rarefied world of full-size electric flagship SUVs.
