Eicher Trucks and Buses, a part of VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd, has achieved a significant milestone in India’s electric mobility journey. The company’s Pro X electric commercial vehicle successfully completed a fully loaded endurance run from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, covering approximately 4,100 km in just six days while relying on public charging infrastructure.

The expedition started from Lal Chowk in Srinagar on January 20, 2026, and concluded in Kanyakumari on January 26, 2026. Traversing diverse terrains — from the challenging Himalayan regions and northern plains to the Deccan Plateau and southern coastal areas — the Pro X EV passed through 10 states, showcasing its robustness and real-world capabilities under demanding conditions.

This endurance run forms part of Eicher’s broader campaign to demonstrate the practical viability of electric commercial vehicles (CVs) in India. By operating under fully loaded conditions throughout the journey, the vehicle proved that electric trucks can handle long-haul freight operations efficiently, addressing key concerns around range, reliability, and infrastructure readiness.

According to Eicher, the Pro X EV is the first and fastest electric commercial vehicle to complete this iconic route under such rigorous, fully loaded conditions. An adjudicator from the India Book of Records accompanied the vehicle for the entire journey, verifying route compliance, loading conditions, and other parameters. The feat has earned four official entries in the India Book of Records.

Key Highlights of the Journey

  • Distance: ~4,100 km
  • Duration: 6 days
  • Conditions: Fully loaded, using public charging infrastructure
  • Terrain: Varied — mountains, plains, and coastal regions
  • Records: Four entries in the India Book of Records for being the first and fastest electric small truck to achieve this

The Pro X series, known for its compact yet capable design in the light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment, features advanced battery technology, efficient electric powertrain, and safety systems suitable for commercial applications. This run highlights improvements in battery range, charging compatibility, and vehicle durability tailored to Indian road and operational conditions

India’s commercial vehicle sector is gradually embracing electrification, driven by government policies, environmental goals, and the need to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Long-distance endurance tests like this help build confidence among fleet operators, logistics companies, and drivers about the readiness of electric alternatives for heavy-duty and intercity applications.

“This journey is a real-world endurance test to understand how practical an electric commercial vehicle can be,” Eicher noted in statements around the campaign. By completing the run without major interruptions and using existing public chargers, the Pro X EV signals that the ecosystem for electric CVs is maturing.

Eicher Trucks and Buses continues to expand its electric portfolio, positioning itself as a key player in India’s sustainable mobility transition. Successes like the Kashmir-to-Kanyakumari run are expected to encourage more adoption of electric small trucks and LCVs in last-mile and medium-haul logistics.

As India aims for net-zero emissions and ambitious EV penetration targets, such demonstrations play a crucial role in bridging perception gaps and accelerating infrastructure development.

The Eicher Pro X EV’s record-setting performance not only celebrates engineering excellence but also marks an important chapter in the story of electric commercial vehicles transforming Indian roads.
