Billion Electric Mobility has entered into a strategic partnership with JK Cement to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in India’s cement logistics sector. Under the agreement, more than 150 heavy-duty electric trucks will be deployed during the current financial year (FY 2026-27) as JK Cement expands its green logistics initiative.
The deployment kicked off with a successful pilot project involving 20 electric trucks at JK Cement’s Muddapur plant in Karnataka. These 55-tonne Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) trucks are now operational and will be used to transport cement from the plant to various stockyards across Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Goa.
This partnership marks a significant milestone in the decarbonization of heavy-duty transportation in the cement industry, which is one of the largest contributors to logistics-related emissions in India. By introducing a large fleet of electric trucks, JK Cement aims to reduce its carbon footprint, lower operating costs, and set a benchmark for sustainable supply chain practices.
Speaking on the development, officials from both companies expressed confidence in the long-term benefits of electric mobility for heavy commercial vehicles. The 55-tonne e-trucks are designed to handle demanding long-haul operations while offering zero tailpipe emissions, lower maintenance costs, and smoother performance compared to traditional diesel trucks.
