Jetour is preparing a substantially revised version of its T2 SUV for the Chinese market, with the updated model set to make its public debut at the Chengdu Motor Show. Sold as the Traveller in China, the facelifted model will use the Traveller 7 name while retaining its five-seat layout. The changes are especially relevant for India, as JSW Motors prepares to enter the domestic market and the T2-based plug-in hybrid is expected to be among its first offerings.
The most noticeable update is at the front. Circular headlamps replace the previous square units, incorporating distinctive round LED daytime running light rings. These connect visually with a continuous illuminated light strip that runs across a revised grille. The Jetour lettering has been repositioned to the leading edge of the bonnet, the front bumper is more squared-off and finished in body colour, and overall the face draws influence from both the larger Traveller 8 (T8) and elements of the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado First Edition.
The side profile remains boxy and upright with a floating roof effect created by blacked-out pillars, body-colour wheel arches, new 19-inch wheels, roof rails, and an optional panoramic sunroof. At the rear, the signature side-opening tailgate and external storage “backpack” box are retained, though the taillights receive a smoked treatment. Dimensions for the five-seater are approximately 4,827 mm long, 2,006 mm wide and 1,875 mm tall, on a 2,800 mm wheelbase.
Patent and regulatory filings confirm the Traveller 7 will continue with Jetour’s C-DM plug-in hybrid system. This pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine (around 115 kW) with electric motors and a three-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT). Combined system outputs in the region of 265 kW and 610 Nm have been referenced, with a claimed full-charge-and-full-tank range exceeding 1,300 km. Battery capacity figures in related filings sit around the 18 kWh mark for some configurations, though exact India-spec details may differ. Conventional petrol engines (1.5T and 2.0T) may also be offered in China.
JSW Motors is readying its independent passenger-vehicle entry, with a locally assembled plug-in hybrid based on the Jetour T2 planned as one of the first models. Production is expected at the group’s upcoming facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, with a potential launch window around Diwali 2026 or later in the year. Indian pricing has been estimated in the mid-to-high Rs 30 lakh to around Rs 40 lakh range depending on specification and localisation.
The facelifted Traveller 7’s cleaner, more refined front-end treatment and confirmed PHEV focus align well with the powertrain orientation already indicated for the Indian market. Whether India receives the updated circular-headlamp design or an earlier-generation face remains to be confirmed, but the Chengdu debut will give a clear view of the latest iteration of the vehicle that could form the foundation of JSW Motors’ initial lineup.The updated Traveller 7 is scheduled for public appearance at the Chengdu Motor Show starting 21 August, with a Chinese market launch expected later in 2026.
