Mahindra’s Born Electric lineup is expanding, and the latest spy shots of the upcoming BE 07 (also referred to as BE 7) confirm that testing is intensifying. Two camouflaged test mules were recently spotted together, offering fresh exterior details and, for the first time, a clear look inside the cabin. The test mule revealed that the BE 07 will most likely get a triple-screen setup – much like the XEV 9e. Even the concept model of the BE 07 had a triple-screen setup, and it is highly likely that it will be offered in the production version. Even though Mahindra seems to have installed auxiliary taillights, the BE 07 will likely get connected LED taillights (or vertically stacked C-shaped units), similar to the ones we have seen in the BE 06 and BE 07 concept. While these were the only details revealed, here’s what we expect to see in the upcoming BE 07.
The production-spec BE 07 is taking shape as a more upright, conventional mid-size electric SUV compared to the sportier BE 6. Measuring around 4.56–4.6 metres in length with a wheelbase near 2,775 mm, it sits above the BE 6 in size and positioning while remaining a five-seater.Key design elements visible on the latest mules include:
- Frameless (pillarless) doors – set to make the BE 07 India’s first mainstream vehicle with this premium feature.
- Flush-fitting (motorised) door handles.
- Angular projector headlamps with extended lower elements (likely integrating fog/cornering lights) and prominent C-shaped LED DRLs.
- Large black-finished alloy wheels, thick C-pillars, wide haunches, geometric wheel-arch cladding, and roof rails.
- A sloping roofline and rear profile that some observers compare to the Range Rover Velar for a clean, upscale look.
- Temporary/makeshift taillights on the test vehicles, but the production model is expected to feature vertically stacked or connected LED taillights inspired by the concept and BE 6.
The overall silhouette stays true to the 2022 BE 07 concept, though some of the sharpest edges have been softened for practicality and production feasibility. Conventional wing mirrors replace the concept’s camera units.
The biggest revelation from the latest spy images is the cabin. The BE 07 adopts Mahindra’s signature triple-screen layout with three 12.3-inch displays spanning the dashboard end-to-end – identical in approach to the XEV 9e and XEV 9S (and previewed on the original concept). There is no physical divider between driver and passenger sides.Other interior observations and expectations include:
- A two-spoke multifunction steering wheel similar to other Mahindra EVs, with touch controls.
- Minimal physical buttons; climate and media controls appear touch-based on the centre console.
- Toggle-style gear selector, touch-based start button, and key slot.
- Premium features expected to carry over from the Electric Origin range: panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, multi-zone climate control, 360-degree camera, head-up display, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Type-C ports, Harman Kardon audio, ambient lighting, and Level 2+ ADAS (including possible self-park functionality).
- Adrenox UI with over-the-air updates and high computing power.
The cabin aims for a clean, modern, tech-forward feel with soft-touch materials and a focus on space and comfort.
The BE 07 rides on Mahindra’s dedicated INGLO skateboard platform (shared with the BE 6, XEV 9e and XEV 9S). Expected battery options include packs in the 59–79 kWh range (reports vary slightly around 60/65 kWh entry and 75/79 kWh top), delivering a claimed range of up to around 600 km depending on the variant, with real-world figures likely in the 500+ km bracket for the larger pack.Power is expected to come from rear-wheel-drive single-motor setups producing roughly 228–286 hp and around 380 Nm, with the possibility of higher-output or all-wheel-drive versions later. DC fast charging support (up to ~175–180 kW) should enable 10–80% charges in about 30 minutes.
Mahindra has confirmed a 2027 launch for this model (internally linked to the B07/BE 07 program). Some speculation points to a possible reveal or further details around Independence Day events, but full production and sales are targeted for calendar year 2027. Expected pricing is likely to start in the mid-to-high ₹20 lakh range (ex-showroom), potentially stretching toward ₹30 lakh for top variants, positioning it as a premium mid-size electric SUV.
