Switch Mobility, the electric vehicle arm of the Hinduja Group, has secured a major order to supply 650 electric buses to Sai Green Projects Pvt Ltd. The buses will be deployed in Mumbai and Pune under Phase II of the Government of India’s PM E-Drive scheme.
Under the contract, Switch Mobility will deliver 9-metre electric buses in both air-conditioned (AC) and non-air-conditioned configurations. Sai Green Projects was selected as the operator through a tender floated by Convergence Energy Services Ltd (CESL). The fleet will serve Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) in Mumbai and Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) in Pune.
Of the total 650 buses, approximately 450 units are expected to be deployed in Mumbai, while the remaining 200 buses are likely to be allocated to Pune. This order forms part of the larger PM E-Drive Phase II allocation, under which Mumbai has been allotted 1,500 electric buses.

The order strengthens Switch Mobility’s presence in India’s rapidly expanding electric bus market. The company has already deployed more than 2,500 electric buses in India, with its global fleet covering over 185 million green kilometres.
The PM E-Drive scheme aims to accelerate the adoption of electric buses across major cities by supporting operators under a Gross Cost Contract (GCC) model. The new 9-metre buses will help BEST and PMPML expand cleaner, quieter, and more efficient public transport options for daily commuters in two of Maharashtra’s largest urban centres
