JSW MG Motor India is set to unveil its first plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV on July 16, 2026. While the company has teased a “New Energy Vehicle” debut, strong indications point to the rebadged Wuling Starlight 560 PHEV (codenamed 520 in India). This three-row SUV is positioned as a direct rival to the Mahindra XUV 7XO and Tata Safari, bringing advanced plug-in hybrid technology to the mass-market segment

This launch marks MG’s entry into the plug-in hybrid space in India, promising a blend of electric efficiency, petrol range, and family-friendly practicality. The Starlight 560 has already been spotted testing extensively on Indian roads, including charging sessions, and its design has been patented locally.

  • Width: 1,850 mm
  • Height: 1,755 mm
  • Wheelbase: 2,810 mm

It will be offered in both 5-seater and 7-seater configurations, making it slightly larger than some key rivals and ideal for big Indian families.

The MG Starlight 560 PHEV is expected to be priced in the ₹20–30 lakh range (ex-showroom), making it one of the most accessible plug-in hybrid SUVs in its class. It will compete head-on with:

  • Mahindra XUV 7XO
  • Tata Safari
  • Other upcoming three-row SUVs

Exact pricing and variants will be revealed post the July 16 debut, with a full launch likely around October 2026 (festive season).

This PHEV debut forms part of JSW MG Motor India’s aggressive plan to introduce six new models by 2027, including multiple electrified offerings. It positions MG as a key player in the country’s shift toward efficient new-energy vehicles while addressing range anxiety through hybrid technology.

The July 16 event is expected to provide the first official look, details on India-specific features, and possibly a name confirmation for the model. Enthusiasts and family buyers are eagerly awaiting this launch, which could make advanced PHEV technology more mainstream in India.
