Maruti Suzuki YMC EV Spied Testing – First Look at Upcoming Electric 7-Seater MPV

Maruti Suzuki’s aggressive push into the electric vehicle segment continues, with fresh spy shots revealing a new mystery vehicle undergoing testing in India. These are the first clear sightings of the vehicle, which appears to be a large, family-oriented model with strong SUV-inspired styling and distinct electric vehicle characteristics.

The test mule was spotted alongside the upcoming Brezza facelift, providing the clearest look yet at its design. Key observations from the spy shots include:

  • Bold SUV-like proportions with a tall stance, long wheelbase, and substantial overall length (expected to be around 4.5 metres).
  • Futuristic EV design cues: Sleek front fascia with sharp LED DRLs, connected LED tail lights, and no visible exhaust pipe.
  • Modern alloy wheels similar to those on the recently launched eVitara.
  • Spacious cabin hints: Rear parcel tray visible in some shots, suggesting it could be tested in a 5-seater configuration, though it is widely expected to be offered primarily as a 7-seater.
  • Clean, aerodynamic profile typical of electric vehicles.

All indications strongly point towards this being the Maruti YMC — Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming three-row electric MPV. Internally codenamed YMC, this will be the company’s second all-electric vehicle after the eVitara

Expected Key Features:

  • Built on the Heartect-e skateboard platform (shared with eVitara).
  • Battery options: 49 kWh and 61.1 kWh.
  • Estimated range: Up to 500–550 km on a single charge (based on eVitara data).
  • Single front-wheel-drive electric motor setup initially.
  • Family-focused cabin with premium features, spacious 3-row seating, and practical boot space.
  • Competitive positioning against the Kia Carens Clavis EV, BYD eMax 7, and other upcoming 3-row electric MPVs.

While it radiates strong electric vibes, Maruti Suzuki has a wide product pipeline. Possibilities include:

  • A new plug-in hybrid MPV variant.
  • An ICE-powered new MPV (though the lack of exhaust and EV proportions make this unlikely).
  • A stretched or different body style of an existing platform.

However, the majority of automotive experts and spy shot analysts are confident this is the YMC electric MPV.

Expected Launch: End of 2026 or early 2027.Price Range: Likely between ₹18 – 28 lakh (ex-showroom), making it one of the more accessible 7-seater electric family vehicles in India.

This spied model is part of Maruti Suzuki’s broader plan to expand its EV portfolio significantly. After launching the eVitara, the YMC MPV will target the fast-growing demand for practical, spacious electric vehicles suitable for Indian families.
