Simple Energy, the Bengaluru-based electric vehicle startup, has officially launched its flagship Simple Ultra electric scooter in India at an ex-showroom price of ₹2.35 lakh (₹2,34,999). This high-range performer was first showcased earlier in 2026 as part of the brand’s Gen 2 lineup and is now open for bookings, with customer deliveries already underway across the country.
The standout feature of the Simple Ultra is its claimed 400 km range on a single charge, as per the IDC (Indian Driving Cycle) test. This figure comes from a large 6.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack — one of the biggest ever fitted to a production electric scooter in India. For context, most electric scooters in the segment currently offer ranges between 150 km and 250 km. The Ultra’s claim is dramatically higher, making it India’s longest-range electric two-wheeler by a significant margin. In practical terms, this could translate to real-world range of 250–300 km depending on riding style, load, terrain, and weather — enough for many users to charge just once every 1–2 weeks for daily commuting.
The scooter is not just about endurance. It delivers strong performance with:
- Top speed: 115 km/h
- Acceleration: 0–40 km/h in just 2.77 seconds
This makes the Ultra one of the quicker scooters in its class, suitable for both city rides and occasional highway stretches.
The Simple Ultra comes loaded with modern tech, including:
- A 7-inch TFT touchscreen display
- Multiple ride modes
- 4-level traction control
- Features like cruise control, hill hold, reverse assist, and OTA (over-the-air) updates
It builds on Simple Energy’s Gen 2 platform, which also includes lifetime warranty on the motor and battery in the broader lineup.
While competitors like the Ola S1 Pro, Ather 450 series, TVS iQube, and even Simple Energy’s own Simple One Gen 2 (up to 265 km range) offer capable performance, none come close to the Ultra’s headline range figure. The Ultra’s 400 km claim even puts it in the conversation with some entry-level electric cars available in India, such as the Tata Tiago EV (which offers around 300–400 km claimed range depending on the variant). At roughly ₹2.35 lakh, the scooter delivers car-like range at a fraction of the price and with far lower running costs — a compelling proposition for long-distance commuters or those tired of frequent charging.
Of course, real-world efficiency will depend on usage. IDC figures are optimistic lab tests, so buyers should consider factors like riding speed, traffic, and payload when evaluating the scooter.
Simple Energy is positioning the Ultra as a premium, long-range option for ambitious riders who want fewer charging stops without sacrificing performance or features. It sits above the updated Gen 2 versions of the Simple One and Simple OneS in the brand’s portfolio.
The company has been expanding its presence with showrooms and service touchpoints in major cities like Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, and more, with plans to grow further. If you’re in the market for an electric scooter that minimizes range anxiety and offers strong everyday usability, the Simple Ultra is worth a close look. Bookings are open now, and test rides are likely available at Simple Energy outlets.
