The MG Hector Tomahawk EV has crossed the 10,000 booking mark in less than two months after its launch which has given JSW MG Motor India an unusual start in its electric SUV segment. Launched towards the end of the year in August 2026, the vehicle has drawn in customers from not just Tier-1 but also Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. Industry executives say the demand for the product remains outstanding, with deliveries being made after more than eight weeks. At the heart of the Tomahawk EV is a 69.2 kWh battery pack which offers a claimed range of 517 km on a full tank as per the MIDC cycle.
This massive battery is paired to a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor which produces around 201-204 hp and 310 Nm of torque to offer a longer range for those looking to make longer hauls as a family without range anxiety. It can manage a 0-100 km/h sprint in 8.2 seconds and a relatively quick DC fast charging process makes it more suitable for everyday use with batteries able to manage 90 kW of power.
The Tomahawk EV is significantly larger than most of its rivals as it measures 4,745 mm from nose to tail with a 2,810 mm wheelbase. This makes it more of a true family SUV rather than an electric hatchback with extra seats tacked on at the back. Customers can choose between five or seven-seat variants meaning there is room for a family with plenty of space for luggage. Around 230 mm of ground clearance helps in navigating the challenging road conditions in India while the larger dimensions also allow for more space in the third row in the seven-seat variant.
The Tomahawk EV is built on top of MG’s new ADAPT multi-energy architecture and not an evolved version of the current Hector. Alongside a plug-in hybrid version that should help alleviate range anxiety on longer trips for those unwilling to install a home charging station, prices for the pure-electric variant start at around ₹19.49 lakh (ex-showroom) with a Battery-as-a-Service option available to lower the entry barrier for those who want to keep their vehicle and battery purchase separate. These features have helped the Tomahawk EV generate significant early demand and has placed JSW MG as a serious contender in the Indian electric SUV space.
