Ather Energy officially launched its new Konarc electric scooter on 29 August 2026, marking the brand’s most accessible offering yet and the first production model built on its new EL platform. While presented under two main lines—the base Konarc S and the higher-spec Konarc Z—the scooter actually spans six distinct versions differentiated primarily by battery capacity and features. The company showcased both S and Z models, though full pricing and complete specifications for the Z line remain pending as it arrives later.

The Konarc S line currently covers four battery options. The entry-level 2.1 kWh pack delivers a claimed 100 km IDC range and about 80 km true range. The 2.7 kWh version offers 125 km IDC and roughly 100 km true range. Stepping up to 3.5 kWh brings 161 km IDC and around 130 km true range, while a larger 5 kWh pack targeting 200 km IDC is planned for later. Pricing for the S models starts at an aggressive ₹99,999 ex-showroom for the 100 km variant, rises to ₹1.22 lakh for the 125 km version and ₹1.45 lakh for the 161 km model. The 200 km variant’s price has not been announced. The Konarc Z, available in 125 km and 161 km IDC versions, sits higher in the range with more advanced equipment; its pricing and detailed specs are still to come.

This entry-level approach deliberately strips the base configuration back to essentials to hit the sub-lakh price point, removing some features long associated with Ather scooters. Features then build progressively as the price climbs. The overall design is clean and neutral, prioritising everyday practicality and comfort rather than bold styling. It feels approachable for daily commuting, and the proportions work well for typical urban use.

Every Konarc comes with three riding modes—Smart Eco, Eco and Power—along with a steel unibody metal body. It rolls on a 14-inch front alloy wheel designed to handle potholes more confidently and a 12-inch rear wheel paired with longer suspension travel for better ride compliance. The longer wheelbase compared with the 450 and Rizta contributes to greater stability and comfort according to Ather. Underseat storage measures 31 litres, enough for a couple of half-helmets, with a USB-C port on the left and the charging connector on the right. All variants include a 450 W onboard charger; an optional additional 450 W unit can be added for a combined 900 W setup. Vehicle warranty stands at three years or 30,000 km, with the option to extend battery coverage up to 10 years or 1 lakh km.

Performance across the S line is tuned for efficiency and quiet operation thanks to the absence of a belt drive. Top speed is 70 km/h, with the base model accelerating from 0-40 km/h in five seconds. The entry-level 2.1 kWh Konarc S pairs this with a 4.2-inch DeepView display and drum brakes at both ends. With the combined 900 W charging, 0-80 per cent takes around two hours. Ather Grid access is available only as an add-on on this base model.

Moving to the 125 km S version brings Ather Grid as standard, a slightly more powerful motor that improves 0-40 km/h to 4.7 seconds, front disc and rear drum brakes, a larger 7-inch DeepView display, a cushioned and adjustable pillion grab rail, Air Walk assistance that provides motor help when pushing the scooter, Fall Safe, Bluetooth connectivity and the full suite of app features including theft alerts, Find My Scooter and remote access. Charging from 0-80 per cent with the home setup takes about 2.5 hours. The 161 km S variant matches the performance and equipment of the 125 km model but includes the additional 450 W charger as standard, extending 0-80 per cent charging to roughly three hours and ten minutes. All S models use a physical key and lack a boot lamp. Specs for the forthcoming 200 km S version are still pending.

The Konarc Z variants raise the top speed to 80 km/h and introduce several premium conveniences. Magic Key, a key fob, enables proximity sensing so the scooter powers on automatically when the rider approaches, sits and raises the stand, then switches off when the stand is lowered. The system is selective enough that nearby strangers cannot activate it. The fob includes buttons to ping the scooter with lights and sound for location, and to open the boot. A physical lever or conveniently placed knee-press button can also open the boot, which stays open until closed manually. If the key is misplaced, the phone app can generate an offline passcode for unlocking. A low battery on the fob can be topped up simply by tapping it on the scooter, providing enough charge to start. Should the key be dropped unnoticed, the scooter records its last known location so the rider can retrieve it after unlocking via the app. Z models also gain a boot lamp.

Braking on the Z line features AeBS, Ather’s Advanced Electronic Braking System, which delivers up to 20 per cent higher peak braking force, shortens stopping distances and helps prevent rear-wheel lock-up for improved stability and control.

Serviceability receives clear attention. All Konarc scooters feature a 10,000 km service interval. Ather demonstrated the platform’s service-friendly design by removing the motor and transmission in 37 seconds and completing reassembly with quality checks in one minute 33 seconds—an impressive showcase of the engineering focus on faster workshop times.

Deliveries follow a phased schedule. The 125 km and 161 km Konarc S variants begin reaching customers in September 2026. The base 100 km S model follows in the first quarter of 2027, both Z variants arrive in the second quarter of 2027, and the 200 km S version is planned for the third quarter of 2027.

With its accessible pricing, practical design, scalable battery options and thoughtful everyday features, the Konarc expands Ather’s reach into a broader segment of riders seeking reliable electric mobility without compromising on the brand’s connected experience and service focus.
