Yuma Energy and Motovolt Mobility Partner to Deploy 15,000 M7 Electric Scooters with Battery Swapping by End of 2026

In a major push to accelerate electric mobility for India’s booming last-mile delivery sector, battery-as-a-service provider Yuma Energy and electric two-wheeler manufacturer Motovolt Mobility have announced a strategic partnership. The collaboration aims to deploy 15,000 Motovolt M7 electric scooters equipped with Yuma’s advanced battery-swapping network by the end of 2026.

The announcement, made in Bengaluru and Kolkata, addresses key barriers to EV adoption in the commercial segment: range anxiety, limited charging infrastructure, long charging times, and high upfront battery costs. By decoupling the battery from the vehicle purchase, fleet operators and delivery riders can access Yuma’s reliable swapping stations for quick battery exchanges—often in under a minute—minimizing downtime and slashing operational expenses.

The Motovolt M7, already a popular choice for last-mile logistics, features a robust design with a 3 kWh LFP battery (dual swappable packs), offering up to 166 km range on a single charge, a 180 kg payload capacity, and a top speed of 60 kmph. Built for Indian roads with German engineering influences, it includes practical features like an IP67-rated battery, IOT connectivity, anti-theft systems, and a modular cargo-to-saddle setup ideal for deliveries.

Yuma Energy’s battery-swapping infrastructure plays a pivotal role, enabling seamless operations for high-utilization fleets. Riders simply swap depleted batteries for fully charged ones at Yuma stations, enjoying a lifetime battery warranty and reduced total cost of ownership.

Battery swapping is transforming last-mile delivery in India, as seen in these real-world examples of quick swaps for electric scooters:

Muthu Subramanian, Managing Director & General Manager of Yuma Energy, commented: “The M7 is a strong, well-built machine, and we’re thrilled to power it with Yuma’s next-gen battery and reliable swapping network. This partnership helps us build an ecosystem that puts riders first and accelerates India’s electric future.”

The partnership builds on Motovolt’s existing deployments of over 2,500 electric two-wheelers with major platforms like Zomato, Swiggy, Flipkart, Zepto, Blinkit, and Porter, where the M7 has proven reliable in high-density urban environments.

As India targets greater EV penetration in commercial transport, initiatives like this—combining durable vehicles with convenient swapping—promise to drive faster adoption, lower emissions, and more sustainable logistics in the years ahead. The goal of 15,000 units by 2026 signals strong confidence in the model’s performance and the scalability of Yuma’s network.
