VinFast is preparing to expand its electric vehicle lineup in India with the launch of several models in the coming months or during 2026-2027. The Vietnamese EV maker is evaluating and planning the introduction of the compact VF3 and VF5 alongside the larger VF8, aiming to strengthen its presence across different segments of the growing Indian electric car market.
The VinFast VF3 features a boxy, rugged-looking exterior design that gives it the appearance of a small SUV, even though it is essentially a compact hatchback. Marginally larger than the MG Comet EV, the VF3 is positioned as an affordable urban electric vehicle. It is expected to offer multiple battery options, starting with an 18.64 kWh pack that delivers a claimed range of around 210 km. Larger 29.6 kWh and 37.2 kWh battery packs will also be available, providing a claimed range of up to 326 km for buyers seeking greater everyday versatility.
The VinFast VF5 is set to arrive as a more practical compact electric offering. It will be available with two battery pack choices: a 29.6 kWh unit offering a claimed range of 268 km and a larger 37.23 kWh pack that extends the claimed range to around 326 km. This dual-battery strategy allows the VF5 to cater to both city commuters and those who need slightly more range without moving into larger and more expensive segments.
Further up the range, the VinFast VF8 brings a more substantial midsize electric SUV package. Measuring 4,701 mm in length, 1,872 mm in width and 1,670 mm in height, it features a wheelbase of 2,840 mm and rides on 19-inch alloy wheels. With a ground clearance of 170 mm, the VF8 is designed to offer a balanced combination of road presence, interior space and everyday usability for families and premium buyers.
Together, the VF3, VF5 and VF8 reflect VinFast’s strategy of covering multiple price points and customer needs in India. By introducing these models over the coming months and into 2026-2027, the company aims to build on its existing presence and compete more effectively in the rapidly expanding electric vehicle market with a broader and more accessible product portfolio.
