Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast is steadily preparing to enter the Indian mobility market, and the latest development suggests that the company is gearing up for its ride-hailing and electric taxi operations as well. Reports and videos shared online reveal multiple VinFast Limo Green electric MPVs wearing commercial taxi registration plates, indicating that the company’s Green SM electric taxi business could soon begin operations in India.

A recently shared online video showcases a fleet of VinFast Limo Green electric MPVs parked together. What immediately grabs attention is that all the vehicles carry black-and-yellow commercial number plates, confirming their registration as taxis.

The MPVs seen in the video are finished in a uniform grey paint shade, suggesting these could be part of an official fleet prepared for commercial deployment. The consistent color theme also hints at standardized branding for the upcoming Green SM mobility service.

For those unaware, Green SM is VinFast’s dedicated electric taxi and mobility platform that already operates successfully in Vietnam and a few international markets. The service exclusively uses VinFast electric vehicles and focuses on eco-friendly urban transportation.

The company now appears to be laying the groundwork for similar operations in India. Hiring activity for drivers has reportedly begun, with monthly salaries said to be around Rs. 35,000. This competitive pay structure could help attract professional drivers as the EV taxi market becomes increasingly competitive.

Unlike traditional taxi aggregators that depend on privately owned vehicles, Green SM follows a fleet-based business model. This allows the company to maintain consistent vehicle quality, charging infrastructure, maintenance schedules, and customer experience standards.

The VinFast Limo Green MPV is expected to play a crucial role in this strategy. Designed as a spacious people mover, the electric MPV is likely to target airport transfers, city commutes, and premium ride-sharing services.

VinFast has already announced significant investment plans for India and is setting up manufacturing operations in Tamil Nadu. The company is expected to launch multiple electric SUVs and MPVs in the Indian market over the next few years.

The sighting of taxi-registered Limo Green MPVs suggests that VinFast is not limiting itself to private EV sales alone. Instead, the automaker appears to be building a complete EV ecosystem involving passenger vehicles, charging infrastructure, and electric mobility services.

India’s electric taxi segment is gradually gaining momentum with several companies exploring sustainable ride-hailing options. VinFast’s entry through Green SM could intensify competition in the premium EV taxi market.

With dedicated EV fleets, salaried drivers, and factory-backed service support, Green SM may offer a different approach compared to conventional app-based cab services currently operating in the country.

As VinFast continues preparations for its India debut, the arrival of Green SM could become one of the most interesting developments in the country’s rapidly evolving electric mobility landscape.
