TVS Motor Company has achieved a significant milestone in its electric mobility journey with the rollout of the one millionth TVS iQube electric scooter from its manufacturing facility in Hosur. The landmark comes nearly six years after the iQube’s launch in January 2020, underscoring the company’s growing footprint in India’s expanding electric two-wheeler segment.

The iQube, TVS Motor’s flagship electric scooter, has evolved from an initial limited rollout in select cities like Bengaluru into a comprehensive portfolio offering multiple battery options and variants tailored to diverse customer needs. Customers have collectively clocked over 14.94 billion kilometers on iQube scooters, resulting in the avoidance of approximately 522,969 tonnes of CO₂ emissions.

TVS Motor has emphasized that the entire iQube portfolio has been developed through in-house engineering, research, and development. The scooters are designed and manufactured in India, aligning with the government’s push for local EV manufacturing and self-reliance. This approach has enabled the company to iterate quickly on features such as improved range, faster charging, connected technologies, and multiple battery pack sizes (ranging from around 2.2 kWh to 5.3 kWh variants), delivering IDC ranges of up to 212 km on higher-end models

The rapid acceleration in production and sales reflects changing market dynamics. While the first lakh units took over three years, subsequent milestones were achieved at a much faster pace, with the company crossing cumulative EV sales of one million units recently, driven primarily by the iQube and supported by newer models like the Orbiter.

India’s electric two-wheeler market has witnessed robust growth, fueled by rising fuel prices, improving charging infrastructure, government incentives, and greater consumer confidence in EV reliability. Manufacturers are ramping up investments in local production, product development, and charging ecosystems to capture a larger share of this expanding segment.

TVS Motor has positioned the iQube as a practical, family-oriented scooter suitable for daily commuting, school runs, and urban mobility. Marketing campaigns highlight its low running costs, low maintenance, and environmental benefits, positioning it as an everyday vehicle that can “pay for itself” over time compared to petrol scooters.

The milestone at the Hosur plant not only celebrates past achievements but also signals TVS Motor’s ambitions in the EV space, including potential international expansion. As competition intensifies among legacy two-wheeler makers and pure-play EV startups, TVS’s focus on in-house technology, widespread service networks, and customer-centric design is expected to play a key role in sustaining momentum.

This one-million-unit production landmark reinforces India’s progress toward sustainable mobility and highlights how established manufacturers are successfully transitioning toward electric futures while leveraging their engineering and manufacturing strengths.
