Toyota Kirloskar Motor has officially launched its first all-electric vehicle in India — the Urban Cruiser Ebella. The top-spec E3 variant is priced at ₹23.60 lakh (ex-showroom). This marks Toyota’s serious entry into the country’s growing electric vehicle market.
The Ebella is offered with two battery options:
- 61 kWh LFP battery (top variants): Delivers 128 kW (approx. 172 hp) and 193 Nm of torque. ARAI-certified range of up to 543 km.
- 49 kWh battery (base variant): Lower power output and around 440 km range.
Both use a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor with FWD. DC fast charging (10-80%) is claimed in about 45 minutes. The vehicle supports multiple drive modes including Eco, Normal, and Sport for flexible performance.
The Ebella features Toyota’s “Urban Tech” design language with a bold hammerhead front fascia, distinctive LED lighting signatures, aerodynamic 18-inch alloy wheels, and classic SUV proportions. It measures roughly 4,285 mm in length, with a 2,700 mm wheelbase and confident ground clearance suited for Indian roads.
Key Features (E3 Top Variant)
- Level 2 ADAS suite
- 7 airbags as standard across the range
- Panoramic / fixed glass roof
- Ventilated front seats
- Powered driver’s seat
- 360-degree camera
- Premium JBL audio system
- 10.25-inch digital displays
- Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto
- i-CONNECT intelligent connectivity system
Lower variants (E1 and E2) offer a more accessible feature set while retaining core safety and comfort elements.
The Urban Cruiser Ebella is built on the same electric platform as the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. It is manufactured at Maruti’s facility and benefits from the Toyota-Suzuki alliance. This allows Toyota to offer proven EV technology with its own styling, tuning, and premium branding.
With the Ebella, Toyota aims to bring its reputation for reliability, strong after-sales service, and long-term ownership peace of mind into the EV segment. The brand is banking on LFP battery durability, widespread service network, and customer trust to differentiate itself in a competitive midsize electric SUV space.
Bookings are already open, and deliveries are expected to commence soon. Lower variant prices (E1 and E2) are yet to be fully detailed but are expected to make the Ebella more accessible
At ₹23.60 lakh for the loaded E3, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella enters the fray as a premium-badged option in the electric SUV segment. It promises strong range, modern features, and Toyota’s legendary dependability. Whether the extra premium over its Maruti twin is justified will depend on individual priorities — badge value, service experience, or pure value-for-money.
