The Indian electric vehicle market continued its upward trajectory in May 2026, with strong demand for electric SUVs across various price segments. Tata Motors maintained its dominance, but the competition is clearly heating up as other manufacturers push hard.

At the top of the chart, the Tata Punch EV once again proved its massive popularity, registering 3,681 units sold in May. Its compact size, affordable pricing, and city-friendly design have made it the clear favourite among Indian buyers.

Hot on its heels was the Mahindra 9S, which recorded an impressive 3,502 units. The close battle between the Punch EV and Mahindra 9S shows how fiercely competitive the affordable electric SUV space has become.

In third position, the Tata Nexon EV continued its strong performance with 2,649 units sold. Further down, the MG Windsor held the fourth spot with 2,032 units, proving its popularity in the mid-range segment.
