American electric vehicle giant Tesla Inc., led by billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, officially entered the Indian market last year with the launch of its popular electric SUV, the Model Y. The entry marked a major milestone for India’s premium EV segment, as Tesla brought its globally successful product to one of the world’s fastest-growing automobile markets.
However, despite the strong brand appeal and high expectations, sales of the Tesla Model Y in India have remained relatively slow. Factors such as premium pricing, limited charging infrastructure, and stiff competition from established players have impacted customer demand. To address this challenge and boost sales momentum, Tesla has now introduced a range of attractive offers for prospective buyers.
As part of the new promotional campaign, Tesla is offering an exchange bonus of up to ₹3 lakh on old vehicles, making it easier for customers to upgrade to an electric SUV. In addition, buyers will receive a complimentary home charging unit, helping reduce the initial setup cost and making daily charging more convenient.
To further improve affordability, Tesla is also providing an easy financing option with monthly EMIs starting at ₹49,000. This move is aimed at expanding Tesla’s reach beyond early adopters and luxury car buyers, encouraging more customers to consider switching to electric mobility.
The Model Y is known for its modern design, long driving range, advanced driver-assistance systems, and minimalist interior. It also features Tesla’s connected ecosystem and over-the-air software updates, which enhance performance and functionality over time.
With these new offers, Tesla is hoping to strengthen its position in the Indian EV market and attract a wider customer base. The company’s strategy reflects a growing focus on making premium electric vehicles more accessible in price-sensitive markets like India.
Industry experts believe that aggressive incentives, combined with improved charging infrastructure and local partnerships, could help Tesla gain traction in the coming months. If successful, this could pave the way for the introduction of more Tesla models in India in the future.
More details about the validity of these offers and their availability across cities are expected to be announced soon.
