Tata Motors is gearing up for one of its most aggressive product offensive yet in FY27 (April 2026–March 2027). The company is set to launch a packed six-model lineup, including two major new electric SUVs — the Sierra EV and Safari EV — along with the debut of its first premium electric model under the all-new Avinya flagship lineup. This push aims to strengthen Tata’s dominance across both ICE and EV segments in India.
A Three-Pronged EV OffensiveTata Motors’ FY27 roadmap focuses heavily on electrification while refreshing existing models. The highlight remains the introduction of iconic nameplates in electric form and the entry into a higher luxury electric segment.
1. Tata Sierra EV
Expected launch: Q2 FY27 (July–September 2026)
The reborn Sierra returns as a fully electric SUV. Positioned between the Curvv EV and Harrier EV, it is expected to offer:
- Battery options: 55 kWh and 65 kWh
- Powertrain: Single-motor RWD and dual-motor AWD variants
- Strong range potential (likely 400–500+ km)
- Retro-modern design with rugged appeal
This will be one of the first major launches of the financial year and is anticipated to start from around ₹15–20 lakh (estimated).
2. Tata Safari EV
Expected launch: Festive Season 2026 (Q3 FY27)
Tata’s first three-row electric SUV will wear the revered Safari badge. As the new flagship EV offering, it will target family buyers looking for space, luxury, and capability. Key highlights include:
- Larger battery packs (likely 65–75 kWh, shared with Harrier EV platform)
- RWD and AWD options
- Premium 7-seater layout
- Expected pricing: ₹25–30 lakh+ (ex-showroom)
3. First Model from Avinya Flagship Lineup
Expected debut: Second half of FY27 (likely Q3/Q4)
Avinya represents Tata’s vision for premium, next-generation electric vehicles. The first production model (codenamed P1 internally) will be a sophisticated electric SUV built on Tata’s advanced GEN 3 architecture.
Expect:
- Superior space efficiency and flat-floor design
- 500+ km range capability
- Ultra-fast charging
- Premium interiors with sustainable materials, advanced connectivity, and high-end ADAS
- Pricing likely starting above ₹35–45 lakh, positioning it as Tata’s most luxurious offering yet
The Avinya concept, first shown in 2022, emphasized futuristic design, exceptional comfort, and innovative mobility. The production version is expected to make a strong statement at events like the 2027 Bharat Mobility Expo.
In addition to the three new models, Tata plans two ICE and two EV facelifts (including likely updates to Tiago/Tigor lineup) to keep the existing portfolio fresh and competitive throughout FY27.
This ambitious roadmap comes as Tata Motors looks to defend its leadership in the Indian EV market while expanding into higher price bands. With increased competition from Mahindra, MG, Hyundai, and others, the Sierra EV, Safari EV, and Avinya will help Tata broaden its appeal — from accessible electric SUVs to premium luxury offerings.
The company’s focus on both ICE refreshes and aggressive EV expansion demonstrates a balanced strategy to cater to evolving customer preferences during India’s energy transition.
