Tata Motors offers Battery as a Service (BaaS) for all its EVs including the Tiago EV, Punch EV, Nexon EV, Curvv EV, Sierra EV and Harrier EV. BaaS enables a buyer to purchase the EV at a much lower price as compared to the standard price of the vehicle while paying only for the battery used. The difference in the prices goes up to Rs 7.30 lakh based on the variants.
Tata Tiago EV BaaS
The Tata Tiago EV, equipped with a 19kWh battery, starts at Rs 6.99 lakh. With BaaS, the Tiago EV starts at a lower price of Rs 4.69 lakh, which is a difference of Rs 2.30 lakh. Additionally, as per the usage, the cost of batteries starts at Rs 2.6 per km. The Tiago EV is the cheapest EV in Tata Motors’ EV portfolio as per the entry-level prices with BaaS.
Tata Punch EV BaaS
The Tata Punch EV, equipped with a 30kWh battery, starts at Rs 9.79 lakh. With BaaS, the Punch EV starts at a lower price of Rs 6.59 lakh, which is a difference of Rs 3.20 lakh. In addition, as per the usage, the cost of batteries starts at Rs 2.6 per km. The Punch EV offers not only lower prices but also lower usage costs in comparison with other EVs in Tata Motors’ EV portfolio.
Tata Nexon EV BaaS
The Tata Nexon EV, equipped with a 45kWh battery, starts at Rs 14.34 lakh. With BaaS, the Nexon EV starts at a lower price of Rs 8.99 lakh, which is a difference of Rs 5.35 lakh. Additionally, as per the usage, the cost of batteries starts at Rs 4.4 per km. The Nexon EV offers a lower price difference and a moderate battery usage cost as compared to other variants of EVs in Tata Motors’ EV portfolio.
Tata Curvv EV BaaS
The Tata Curvv EV, equipped with a 55kWh battery, starts at Rs 17.19 lakh. With BaaS, the Curvv EV starts at a lower price of Rs 10.99 lakh, which is a difference of Rs 6.20 lakh. Additionally, as per the usage, the cost of batteries starts at Rs 5 per km.
Tata Sierra EV BaaS
The newly launched Tata Sierra EV, equipped with a 63kWh battery, starts at Rs 18.79 lakh. With BaaS, the Sierra EV starts at a lower price of Rs 11.99 lakh, which is a difference of Rs 6.80 lakh. In addition, as per the usage, the cost of batteries starts at Rs 5.5 per km.
Tata Harrier EV BaaS
The Tata Harrier EV, equipped with a 65kWh battery, starts at Rs 21.79 lakh. With BaaS, the Harrier EV starts at a lower price of Rs 14.49 lakh, which is a difference of Rs 7.30 lakh. Additionally, as per the usage, the cost of batteries starts at Rs 5.9 per km. The Harrier EV is the topmost EV of Tata Motors’ and offers the highest price difference with BaaS among all the variants of Tata Motors’ EVs.

Tata Motors’ BaaS Strategy Expansion
As per the announcement, Tata Motors offers BaaS for its entire EVs portfolio, starting from the Tiago EV to the Harrier EV. The BaaS option enables a buyer to choose between the standard price of the EV and the lower entry-level price with a higher usage cost. The Harrier EV variant offers the highest upfront saving, while the Tiago EV and Punch EV variants offer the lowest battery usage cost of Rs 2.6 per km.
While expanding its BaaS options to all its EVs variants, Tata Motors introduces another option for its customers to consider the lower entry-level price with higher usage costs in addition to the standard price of its EVs.
