Tata.ev and Shell India Join Forces to Launch 21 Mega Charging Hubs, Boosting India’s EV Infrastructure and Eliminating Range Anxiety

In a significant stride toward accelerating electric mobility adoption across India, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TATA.ev) has partnered with Shell India Mobility to inaugurate 21 new TATA.ev x Shell Mega Charging Hubs. This rollout, announced in late February 2026, strategically targets key urban centers and highway corridors to deliver faster, more reliable, and premium charging experiences for EV owners—directly addressing range anxiety for both city commuters and long-distance travelers.

The newly launched hubs are spread across five major locations: Bengaluru, Chennai, Mysuru, Pune, and Vadodara. Positioned along high-traffic urban routes and critical intercity highways (such as segments of the Ahmedabad–Mumbai corridor via Vadodara), these sites enhance accessibility for daily commutes as well as extended journeys.

Premium Features for a Superior Charging Experience Each TATA.ev x Shell Mega Charging Hub is equipped with:

  • Minimum 120 kW DC ultra-fast chargers, enabling quick top-ups and reduced waiting times compared to standard public chargers.
  • Multiple charging bays to handle higher footfall simultaneously.
  • On-site manned support from trained marshals who guide users through the charging process, vehicle care tips, and more.
  • Convenient amenities including fresh food and beverages at Shell Select and Deli2go stores, plus clean, hygienic restrooms.
  • Curated in-store offers exclusively for Tata EV owners.

Tata EV customers also benefit from special tariff advantages, including up to 25% discounts on charging rates at these hubs, making frequent use more economical.

This expansion brings the total number of operational TATA.ev Mega Charging Hubs nationwide to over 130, marking a rapid build-out of high-capacity public infrastructure.

Part of ‘Open Collaboration 2.0’ – A Vision for Nationwide Coverage

The initiative aligns perfectly with TATA.ev’s “Open Collaboration 2.0” strategy, which emphasizes partnerships with global energy leaders and charge point operators (CPOs) to create a high-speed, dependable charging network accessible to all EV users—not just Tata owners.Through this open framework, TATA.ev is developing dedicated fast-charging corridors along major intercity routes and urban hotspots. The ambitious roadmap includes:

  • Over 400,000 charging points nationwide.
  • 500 Mega Charging Hubs by 2027.

These targets aim to make long-distance EV travel seamless and practical, supporting India’s growing fleet of electric passenger vehicles and fostering broader adoption. As India’s largest four-wheeler EV manufacturer, TATA.ev continues to lead infrastructure development alongside vehicle innovation. This collaboration with Shell India Mobility—a global energy giant with expertise in mobility solutions—sets a strong precedent for public-private partnerships in building sustainable charging ecosystems.

With range anxiety steadily diminishing through such premium, reliable hubs, the path to widespread electric mobility in India looks increasingly promising. EV owners can now charge confidently, knowing faster and more comfortable stops are readily available on key routes.
