Suzuki Launches eVitara Electric SUV in Brazil at R$ 269,990 – Takes Aim at Volvo EX30 and BYD Yuan Pro

Suzuki has officially introduced its first fully electric SUV, the eVitara, to the Brazilian market, marking a significant step in the brand’s electrification journey in South America. Manufactured in India at Suzuki’s Gujarat facility, the eVitara arrives as a compact electric crossover positioned to compete directly in the growing premium compact EV segment, challenging established players like the Volvo EX30 and the BYD Yuan Pro.

The launch comes at a pivotal time for Suzuki in Brazil, where the brand has been without a passenger car offering since the discontinuation of the iconic Jimny last year due to stricter emission regulations. The eVitara serves as an indirect replacement for the Jimny, bringing modern electric performance and SUV practicality to fill the gap in Suzuki’s lineup under local distributor HPE.

The Suzuki eVitara has been priced at R$ 269,990 (approximately ₹48 lakh) for its launch in Brazil. This positions it above the entry-level single-motor version of its key rival, the Volvo EX30, which starts at R$ 239,950 for the Plus variant (the current base after recent lineup adjustments). However, the eVitara undercuts the higher-end dual-motor all-wheel-drive variants of the EX30, such as the Ultra Twin Motor at R$ 309,950 and the Cross Country at R$ 314,950.While the eVitara enters at a premium compared to the EX30’s most accessible trim, its pricing reflects a focus on competitive features, build quality, and Suzuki’s reputation for reliability in the compact SUV space.

The eVitara measures approximately 4,275 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, 1,635 mm in height, with a 2,700 mm wheelbase and a 310-liter boot—making it dimensionally similar to the Volvo EX30 and BYD Yuan Pro for urban and family use.

The entry-level Brazilian model features a front-wheel-drive (FWD) setup with a 49 kWh battery pack and a single electric motor delivering 106 kW (around 142 hp). Higher configurations may include a larger 61 kWh battery for extended range and potentially all-wheel-drive options, though full variant details for Brazil are rolling out progressively.

The vehicle emphasizes efficiency, modern styling, and advanced tech, including fast-charging capabilities (aligned with global specs of 10-80% in around 25-45 minutes depending on setup) and a suite of safety and driver-assistance features.

Pre-bookings for the eVitara are now open in Brazil, with full pricing and variant announcements expected soon as deliveries ramp up in the coming months. The model joins a competitive electric compact SUV landscape in Brazil, where prices for similar vehicles hover between R$ 230,000 and R$ 280,000+.Suzuki aims to leverage its strong brand loyalty, the “Made in India” cost efficiencies, and the eVitara’s blend of practicality and electric performance to attract buyers transitioning from ICE vehicles or seeking alternatives to premium offerings like the Volvo EX30.This launch underscores Suzuki’s global push into electrification, with the eVitara also available in markets like Europe, India (as Maruti Suzuki e Vitara), and others under varying names and pricing strategies.

As Brazil’s EV market continues to expand with improving infrastructure and incentives, the eVitara could carve out a niche for accessible yet capable electric mobility. Stay tuned for official deliveries, real-world reviews, and any introductory offers from Suzuki Brazil.
