As the new year begins on January 1, 2026, BYD India has announced a selective price revision for its popular Sealion 7 electric SUV. The Premium variant now carries an additional ₹50,000, bringing its ex-showroom price to ₹49.40 lakh (up from ₹48.90 lakh). The higher-spec Performance variant remains unchanged at ₹54.90 lakh (ex-showroom, pan-India).
This adjustment, effective immediately, reflects evolving cost dynamics, including ongoing investments in technology, safety enhancements, and network expansion. Importantly, all bookings placed on or before December 31, 2025, will be honored at the previous prices — giving last-minute buyers a chance to lock in the lower rate.
Strong Market Reception Since Launch
Launched in February 2025 at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo (with deliveries starting March 7), the Sealion 7 has quickly become a standout in India’s premium EV segment. Since its debut, the model has accumulated over 2,300 units in sales nationwide — a solid achievement for a new entrant competing against established names like the BMW iX1 LWB, Tesla Model Y, Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Volvo EC40.The price hike comes amid growing demand for premium electric SUVs, with BYD India continuing to expand its footprint (currently 47 showrooms across 40 cities) to improve accessibility and after-sales support.
Key Specs & HighlightsBoth variants share the same 82.56 kWh Blade Battery (built on BYD’s advanced Cell-to-Body architecture for superior rigidity and safety), but cater to different driving preferences:

- Luxurious interior with a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, ventilated Nappa leather seats, panoramic sunroof, Dynaudio 12-speaker system, and 11 airbags.
- Practical touches like V2L capability, 500L boot + 50L frunk, and advanced ADAS features.
What This Means for Buyers
The modest ₹50,000 increase on the entry-level Premium trim keeps the Sealion 7 competitively positioned in the sub-₹55 lakh premium EV space, especially with its strong performance, long range, and feature-rich package. The unchanged Performance variant offers excellent value for those seeking thrilling acceleration without compromising on efficiency.
Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicles at BYD India, emphasized: “The updated pricing reflects evolving cost dynamics while continuing to offer customers a compelling premium electric SUV proposition.
”With India’s EV market maturing and infrastructure improving, the Sealion 7 remains a compelling choice for buyers seeking a blend of luxury, performance, and sustainability. If you’re in the market for a premium electric SUV, the window for the old pricing has closed — but the model’s appeal is only growing stronger in 2026!
