Ola Electric Begins Delivery of ‘Shakti’ Home Battery System Across India

Ola Electric, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer in India, has taken a significant step into the residential energy storage market by commencing deliveries of its Ola Shakti 9.1kWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). This marks the rollout of what the company describes as India’s first locally designed and manufactured home battery solution, powered entirely by domestically developed technology.

Deliveries Begin in Bengaluru

Deliveries of the 6kW/9.1kWh configuration started on Saturday (February 1, 2026) in Bengaluru, with the company planning a rapid nationwide expansion in the coming months. The system leverages Ola Electric’s indigenous 4680 Bharat Cells, a high-energy-density lithium-ion (NMC chemistry) battery technology produced at its gigafactory. These cells enable compact, efficient, and reliable performance, building on the same platform that powers some of Ola’s electric vehicles like the Roadster X+ and upgraded S1 Pro+ models.

The Ola Shakti system is designed for versatility, supporting both on-grid and off-grid applications. It can power high-load household appliances such as air conditioners, refrigerators, induction cookers, farm pumps, and communication equipment. Key features include fast charging, up to 1.5 hours of backup at full load, portable design, IP67-rated weatherproofing for dust, water, and monsoon conditions, automotive-grade safety, zero running/maintenance costs, and instant changeover during power outages. Users can monitor status, energy flow, and consumption patterns in real-time via an app for optimized usage.BIS Certification MilestonesOla Electric has secured Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification for both main variants, ensuring compliance with rigorous safety and quality norms:

  • The larger 6kW/9.1kWh model received certification on January 15, 2026.
  • The smaller 3kW/5.2kWh variant was recently certified under IS 16242 (Part 1): 2025 / IEC 62040-1: 2017 standards.

These certifications involved extensive testing for short-circuit protection, overload safeguards, electric shock prevention, fire and thermal hazard mitigation, environmental stress resistance, ingress protection, and wiring safety. With both variants now approved, Ola Electric can manufacture and sell the systems across India.Pricing and Availability

  • 3kW/5.2kWh variant: Priced at ₹1,49,999
  • 6kW/9.1kWh variant: Priced at ₹2,49,999

(Note: Some sources mention additional smaller configurations like 1.5kWh portable units starting lower, but the primary focus remains on the certified home-scale models.)Purchases are available through the Ola Electric website and its nationwide stores.

A Step Toward Energy Self-Reliance

An Ola Electric spokesperson emphasized that the Shakti system represents a major advancement toward energy self-reliance for Indian households, farms, and businesses. By enabling clean, decentralized power storage, it reduces dependence on unreliable grid supply, supports solar integration, and promotes sustainable energy use. The modular and scalable design allows users to expand capacity as needs grow.

This launch aligns with Ola Electric’s broader vision of building an indigenous energy ecosystem around its 4680 Bharat Cell platform. As India accelerates its transition to renewables and electrification, products like Ola Shakti could play a pivotal role in making reliable, affordable backup power accessible to more people. With deliveries underway and certifications in place, Ola Electric is positioning itself not just as an EV leader but as a key player in India’s home energy storage revolution.
