MG’s October EV Momentum: Tomahawk Triples Up as Windsor Holds the Crown

MG Motor India had a stellar month in October, with a total of 5,965 electric vehicles registered this month. This shows that MG has almost made the shift completely to electric cars. With 84% of their total car sales being electric vehicles, MG has managed to capture 16% of the four wheeler electric vehicle market. The Tomahawk EV was a standout performer this month. From a slow start last month, the Tomahawk EV saw a massive increase in sales with 1,545 units registered. This shows that interest in the car is really picking up. The Windsor continued to be the best selling vehicle with 3,127 units registered, however we can see signs that the Windsor isn’t growing at the same rate as before.

Unfortunately we’re still not seeing any Tomahawk PHEVs being delivered. This means we’re not taking full advantage of the Tomahawk range. On the ground there have been many complaints from customers that their vehicles are being delayed. Even customers who have ordered higher specification versions of the vehicle, are facing delays. This seems to be holding MG back from turning their strong enquiry figures into vehicle registrations.

Providing that they can get their production and logistics sorted, the Tomahawk EV is set to be a real high volume seller. With the great design, features and price, the Tomahawk EV has everything it needs to compete with the XEV 9S. If MG can ensure all versions of the Tomahawk EV are available, they will be able to not only maintain their current 16% market share, but grow it even more. October has shown there is a huge opportunity for MG.
