JSW MG Motor India has launched the Hector Tomahawk PHEV at a starting ex-showroom price of ₹25.69 lakh, positioning it as India’s first mainstream plug-in hybrid SUV. The model is offered in two variants, with the Exclusive priced at ₹25.69 lakh and the top-spec Essence at ₹27.79 lakh. Unlike the all-electric Hector Tomahawk, the PHEV is available exclusively in a seven-seater configuration. Bookings have opened alongside the EV version, with test drives and deliveries scheduled to begin in November 2026. Buyers can also choose the Battery-as-a-Service option, under which prices start from ₹21.79 lakh plus a battery rental of ₹3.20 per kilometre.
The plug-in hybrid powertrain pairs a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with a 20.5 kWh battery pack and a dedicated hybrid transmission. This setup delivers a pure electric range of over 115 km, allowing short daily commutes to be completed without using petrol. MG claims an overall driving range of more than 1,100 km when combining a full fuel tank with a fully charged battery, along with fuel efficiency of around 40 km per litre under ideal conditions. An electric motor contributes to the system’s performance, enabling 0-100 km/h acceleration in approximately nine seconds.
Built on the same ADAPT architecture as its electric sibling, the Hector Tomahawk PHEV shares the spacious three-row cabin designed for family use, with a practical bench-style second row and usable third-row space. It features modern equipment expected to include a large touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof on higher trims, connected car technology and advanced safety features. The combination of extended electric range for urban driving and the reassurance of a petrol engine for longer journeys makes the PHEV an appealing choice for buyers seeking a flexible alternative to pure electric or conventional SUVs.
With competitive pricing in the mid-₹20 lakh segment and strong claimed efficiency figures, the Hector Tomahawk PHEV expands MG’s electrified lineup and introduces plug-in hybrid technology to a broader audience of Indian SUV buyers.
