Maruti Suzuki has officially revealed the complete pricing for its first electric vehicle in India, the e Vitara, under the conventional ownership model where the battery pack cost is fully included in the upfront ex-showroom price. This follows the recent announcement of the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option, providing buyers with flexible choices to suit different budgets and usage patterns.
The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara starts at Rs 15.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the entry-level variant, positioning it competitively in the mid-size electric SUV segment. Prices are introductory and valid until March 31, 2026, and include a complimentary 7.4 kW home charger with installation support. Here is the variant-wise pricing breakdown (ex-showroom):
- Delta (49 kWh battery pack): Rs 15.99 lakh
- Zeta (61 kWh battery pack): Rs 17.49 lakh
- Alpha (61 kWh battery pack): Rs 19.79 lakh
- Alpha Dual-Tone colour scheme: Rs 20.01 lakh
The Delta variant is equipped with the smaller 49 kWh battery, delivering a claimed range of approximately 440 km, along with 144 hp power and 189 Nm torque. The Zeta and Alpha trims feature the larger 61 kWh battery, offering an enhanced claimed range of up to 543 km, higher output of 174 hp, and the same 189 Nm torque in a front-wheel-drive setup. For buyers looking to minimize the initial investment, the BaaS model remains available: starting at Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Delta variant with battery rental at Rs 3.99 per km, while Zeta and Alpha variants start at Rs 11.99 lakh and Rs 14.29 lakh respectively, with Rs 4.39 per km for the bigger battery.
This dual approach—conventional purchase with battery included or BaaS for lower entry cost—makes the e Vitara more accessible amid India’s growing EV adoption. Bookings are open with a token amount of Rs 21,000, and deliveries are set to commence soon.
The e Vitara stands out with premium features across trims, including Level 2 ADAS, ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof (on select variants), 360-degree camera, connected car technology, and a five-star Bharat NCAP safety rating. It is manufactured at Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat facility and will also be exported to over 100 countries.
Priced aggressively, the e Vitara directly challenges rivals like the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, Hyundai Creta EV (expected), and others in the segment. With Maruti Suzuki’s extensive service network, strong warranty offerings (including an 8-year battery warranty and optional vehicle warranty extension), and 60% assured buy-back after three years under certain plans, the model promises reliable long-term ownership.
As Maruti Suzuki accelerates its electrification journey, the e Vitara represents a bold, practical entry into the EV space—balancing affordability, impressive range, modern features, and real-world usability for Indian buyers. Enthusiasm is high, with the full pricing clarity helping customers make informed decisions. Watch for on-road prices, real-world reviews, and delivery updates in the weeks ahead!
