Mahindra & Mahindra has achieved a remarkable feat in India’s electric vehicle (EV) market. The company has crossed the 50,000-unit sales milestone for its born-electric SUV lineup within just one year of customer deliveries beginning. This rapid scale-up highlights strong consumer confidence in Mahindra’s all-new EV offerings and marks a significant acceleration in EV adoption across the country.
team-bhp.comDeliveries of the BE 6 and XEV 9e started around March 2025. The first 30,000 units were sold in just seven months (one vehicle every 10 minutes on average), and sales surpassed 41,000 units in under 10 months. The portfolio, which later included the XEV 9S, has now touched 50,000 units in FY 2025/26, establishing Mahindra as a serious contender in the premium electric SUV segment
The success of the XEV 9e, BE 6, and XEV 9S can be directly attributed to their superior real-world performance and owner-focused design. These vehicles, built on Mahindra’s dedicated INGLO platform, deliver:
- Impressive Range: Claimed ARAI figures go up to 656 km for the XEV 9e (79 kWh battery) and similar strong numbers for the BE 6. Owners consistently report real-world ranges of 450–500 km (and over 500 km in metro conditions with AC on), making weekly charging sufficient for most users.
- Ultrafast Charging Experience: A standout feature is the ability to charge from 20% to 80% in approximately 18–25 minutes using high-power DC fast chargers (up to 180 kW). This minimizes “charging breaks” on long trips and brings EV ownership closer to the convenience of traditional vehicles.
- Premium Features and Equipment: These SUVs come loaded with advanced technology, spacious interiors, high-quality materials, and a feature set that feels one level above many current competitors — from ADAS and connected car features to premium audio and comfort elements.
- Top-Tier Safety: Both the XEV 9e and BE 6 achieved 5-star ratings in Bharat NCAP crash tests — among the highest scores recorded for any Indian EVs. The XEV 9e scored a perfect 32/32 in adult occupant protection, while the BE 6 scored 31.97/32. Child occupant protection was equally strong at 45/49 for both. This level of crashworthiness gives owners tremendous peace of mind.
Together, these attributes have created a “wonderful” ownership experience, shifting buyer preferences toward Mahindra’s EVs and helping the brand capture significant revenue market share in the segment.
Mahindra is not stopping at vehicle sales. In FY 2025/26, the company has placed strong focus on expanding its ultrafast charging network through the Charge_IN initiative. This network features exclusive 180 kW dual-gun chargers capable of delivering the same rapid 20–80% top-up in about 20 minutes for Mahindra eSUVs.The plan includes setting up 250 charging stations with over 1,000 charging points by the end of 2027, strategically located along major highways. Early stations have already been inaugurated, and the network is open to all electric four-wheelers, not just Mahindra owners. This infrastructure push is critical for long-distance EV travel and will further boost confidence in electric mobility.
With this strong foundation, Mahindra is gearing up for the next phase of growth. The upcoming BO-7 (expected around 2027) and electric variants of the Freedom series (NU) will expand the portfolio, bringing born-electric technology to more segments and price points.
Kudos to the entire Mahindra team — from design and engineering to manufacturing and customer support — for delivering products that genuinely excite Indian buyers and proving that world-class EVs can be made in India.
FY 2025/26 will be remembered as the year Mahindra’s Electric Origin SUVs truly arrived, combining exciting performance, class-leading safety, practical range, and fast charging into a compelling package. As the ultrafast charging network grows and new models arrive, the momentum looks set to continue.
Congratulations, Team Mahindra — this is a proud milestone for Indian automotive innovation and the EV revolution!
