In a bold move that bridges the gap between global motorsport and everyday electric mobility, Mahindra has unveiled the BE 6 Formula E Edition — billed as the world’s first Formula E-inspired electric SUV. Launched on November 26, 2025, this special variant draws directly from Mahindra Racing’s participation in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, infusing the BE 6 with authentic track-derived design elements, aggressive styling cues, and a racing personality that sets it apart from the standard model.
Mahindra’s long-standing involvement in Formula E — as the only Indian team to secure victories on the global stage — has provided a rich source of inspiration. The brand has transferred not just visual motifs but also the spirit of precision, aerodynamics, and electric performance into this road-going SUV, creating a vehicle that feels like a street-legal extension of their race cars.
The BE 6 Formula E Edition stands out immediately with its motorsport-inspired exterior, featuring significant revisions that differentiate it from the regular BE 6. At the front, Mahindra has introduced an all-new signature bumper design paired with circular projector LED headlamps framed in glossy black bezels — a direct nod to the round lighting signatures seen on Mahindra’s Formula E race cars. These headlights are accented with vibrant Firestorm Orange highlights, echoing the team’s iconic racing livery.
Additional orange accents appear throughout: on the grilles, bumpers, tow hooks, and strikingly on the brake callipers, adding pops of color that scream performance heritage. The edition boasts thick black body cladding for a tougher, more armored stance, a bold skid plate, and revised rear bumper with an extended spoiler for enhanced aerodynamics. Race-inspired graphics and decals stretch across the bonnet, fenders, side doors, and fixed glass roof, including the signature “12-stripe” motif from Mahindra’s Formula E cars.
Formula E badging is prominent, with FIA branding on the windscreen (in ceramic form for a premium touch) and special edition plaques. The SUV rolls on new 20-inch alloy wheels with dark-tinted finishes, while four exclusive color options — Everest White, Firestorm Orange, Tango Red, and Stealth Black — allow buyers to amplify the racing theme.
These changes go beyond mere stickers; they reshape the SUV’s proportions and attitude, giving it a more aggressive, track-ready presence that many observers note leans toward rally toughness while proudly wearing its Formula E credentials.
The racing influence continues inside, where the cabin adopts a black-and-orange theme aligned with Mahindra Racing’s colors. Firestorm Orange accents highlight the steering wheel, controls, seat belts, stitching, and door straps, creating a dynamic, energetic environment. Translucent door inserts reveal underlying structure for an industrial, race-car vibe, while exclusive FIA and Formula E branding appears on seats, dashboard, and a special anodised aluminium plaque on the center console (complete with driver signatures from Nyck de Vries and Edoardo Mortara).
Other motorsport touches include a race-style start/stop button flap, custom startup animation, simulated exterior engine sounds, and branded elements that make every drive feel like stepping into a cockpit.
Mechanically, the Formula E Edition retains the BE 6’s proven setup: a 79 kWh battery pack, rear-mounted electric motor delivering 282 hp and 380 Nm of torque, 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, top speed of 202 km/h, and a claimed real-world range around 500 km (with up to 682 km under optimal conditions). It supports ultra-fast charging (20-80% in about 20 minutes on a 180 kW DC charger).Available in two variants — FE2 (₹23.69 lakh ex-showroom) and FE3 (₹24.49 lakh) — the edition targets enthusiasts seeking a bolder, more expressive EV.
The BE 6 Formula E Edition is more than a special trim; it’s a celebration of Mahindra’s motorsport legacy and a statement that electric performance can be thrilling and accessible. As India embraces racing culture — with young fans turning fandom into lifestyle — this SUV channels the adrenaline of Formula E into daily driving.
With bookings opening January 14, 2026, and deliveries from February 14, the first 999 buyers get exclusive perks, including a potential trip to the 2026 London E-Prix. Mahindra is even launching a matching Ride-On toy version for young fans.
In an era where EVs are evolving from practical to passionate, the BE 6 Formula E Edition proves that racing heritage can electrify the streets — boldly, defiantly, and unmistakably Mahindra.
