Stellantis has taken a significant step toward introducing the Leapmotor B10 electric SUV in India. Recent patent filings reveal that the compact crossover, already available in several international markets, is likely to arrive in the country with its original global design intact.
The patent drawings, filed in India, clearly depict the B10’s sleek and modern styling — featuring slim LED lighting elements, flush door handles, smooth aerodynamic lines, and a distinctive front and rear light signature. This confirms that Indian buyers can expect the same contemporary look that has helped the model stand out in markets like Europe, Australia, and Southeast Asia.
The B10 will be brought to India through Leapmotor International, the joint venture between Stellantis and the Chinese EV maker Leapmotor. Under this partnership, Stellantis holds a 51% stake, giving it controlling interest, while Leapmotor owns the remaining 49%. This structure allows Stellantis to leverage its established distribution network and local market knowledge while tapping into Leapmotor’s advanced electric vehicle technology.
Built on the advanced LEAP 3.5 platform, the B10 is a compact electric SUV measuring approximately 4,515 mm in length with a generous 2,735 mm wheelbase. It offers a spacious five-seater cabin, rear-wheel drive layout for better dynamics, and a balanced 50:50 weight distribution.Key highlights include:
- Powertrain options: A 160 kW (215 hp) electric motor in higher variants, delivering strong performance with 0-100 km/h acceleration in around 8 seconds.
- Battery & Range: Choices between a 56.2 kWh and a larger 67.1 kWh LFP battery pack, with claimed ranges of up to 600 km (on the CLTC cycle in some markets).
- Fast Charging: Support for DC fast charging that can replenish 30-80% in roughly 20 minutes.
- Features: Modern infotainment with a large touchscreen, advanced driver assistance systems (including LiDAR in select trims), and a focus on efficiency and comfort.
While there is no official confirmation yet, industry observers believe the Leapmotor B10 could make its Indian debut later in 2026 or early 2027. This aligns with Stellantis’ broader plan to introduce the Leapmotor brand in India during the next financial year, starting with C-segment and entry-level models. The patent filing is widely seen as a clear indicator that preparations are accelerating. Initial units may be fully imported, with local assembly possibly following later to improve affordability and meet demand.
This move forms part of Stellantis’ strategy to expand its electric vehicle portfolio in India by partnering with Leapmotor, aiming to offer stylish, feature-packed, and range-competitive EVs to price-sensitive buyers.
