In a boost to India’s burgeoning electric vehicle (EV) market, Pune-based manufacturer Kinetic has officially commenced deliveries of its much-anticipated DX electric scooter. The launch of this retro-inspired EV back in July generated significant buzz, with initial deliveries slated for September. However, production hiccups pushed the timeline, leading to a slight delay. Now, with the first units rolling out to eager customers, Kinetic is accelerating its rollout strategy just weeks after inaugurating its inaugural showroom in October.
To streamline the delivery process and meet rising demand, the company plans to open five additional dealerships this month. This move is part of Kinetic’s aggressive expansion blueprint, which already includes the appointment of 50 dealers and the issuance of Letters of Intent (LOIs) in prime markets like Pune, Mumbai, Baroda, Surat, Indore, Bhopal, Delhi, Gurgaon, and Jaipur. Looking ahead, Kinetic aims to scale up to a nationwide network of 200 dealerships by the fiscal year 2026-27, positioning itself as a formidable player in the competitive two-wheeler EV segment.
A Timeless Tribute with Cutting-Edge Features
The Kinetic DX isn’t just another electric scooter—it’s a heartfelt homage to the iconic Kinetic Honda DX, the beloved workhorse of Indian roads in the 1980s and 1990s. That classic model symbolized reliability and simplicity for millions of families, and Kinetic has cleverly reimagined it as a zero-emission powerhouse for today’s eco-conscious commuters.
Available in two variants—DX and DX+—the scooter starts at an accessible ex-showroom price of Rs 1,11,499 for the base model and Rs 1,17,499 for the upgraded DX+. Bookings are now live across authorized dealerships, requiring just a nominal token fee of Rs 1,000 to secure your spot.At its core, the DX packs a robust 2.6 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery, strategically placed beneath the floorboard for optimal weight distribution and a low center of gravity. This setup enhances stability while powering a hub-mounted electric motor that delivers a punchy peak output of 4.8 kW. Riders can expect a thrilling top speed of 90 kmph, making it suitable for urban zips and highway jaunts alike.
Range anxiety? Not here. Kinetic claims an impressive 102 km on a single charge for the standard DX, extending to a class-leading 116 km for the DX+ variant—perfect for daily commutes or weekend errands without frequent top-ups. The LFP chemistry ensures longevity and safety, with fast-charging capabilities that get you back on the road in under four hours via a standard 15A socket.
Why the DX Could Redefine Affordable EV MobilityIn a market flooded with high-tech EVs from giants like Ola, Ather, and Bajaj, the Kinetic DX stands out for its blend of heritage charm and practical innovation. Its minimalist design echoes the original DX’s utilitarian vibe, complete with a spacious under-seat storage, LED lighting, and a digital instrument cluster for real-time insights on speed, range, and battery health. As India pushes towards its 30% EV penetration target by 2030, models like the DX play a crucial role in democratizing green mobility. Priced competitively and backed by Kinetic’s legacy in two-wheelers, it appeals to first-time EV buyers nostalgic for the brand’s heyday.
“Delivering the DX marks a new chapter for Kinetic,” said a company spokesperson. “We’re not just selling scooters; we’re reigniting the joy of riding with sustainable innovation.
“With deliveries underway and the network expanding rapidly, early adopters in major cities can expect their units soon. For those on the fence, a test ride at the new showrooms might just convert you.
