Kia has officially confirmed that the Syros EV will make its debut in India in July 2026. The announcement came through the automaker’s 2026 investor presentation, marking a significant step in Kia’s electrification strategy for the Indian market.
This will be Kia’s second locally produced electric vehicle in India, following the Carens Clavis EV. With its arrival, Kia’s pure electric lineup in the country will expand to four models, strengthening its presence in the fast-growing EV segment.
The Syros EV is expected to become Kia’s most accessible electric offering yet. It is projected to be priced between Rs 14 lakh and Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it as a strong contender in the mass-market sub-compact electric SUV space.
This pricing strategy aims to make electric mobility more approachable for Indian buyers while allowing Kia to compete aggressively in a segment currently dominated by established players.
The Syros EV will primarily rival:
- Tata Nexon EV
- Mahindra XUV 3XO EV
- MG Windsor EV (in certain variants)
Its competitive pricing and feature-rich package could disrupt the sub-compact EV segment, where affordability, range, and everyday practicality matter most to buyers.
According to early reports, the Syros EV is likely to feature a 42 kWh battery pack paired with an electric motor producing 133 bhp and 255 Nm of torque. This setup is expected to deliver a real-world range of approximately 340–380 km on a single charge, with some estimates suggesting up to 400 km depending on driving conditions and variant.
It is expected to support fast charging, though exact DC charging speeds will be confirmed closer to launch. The model is likely to be front-wheel-drive only.
Visually, the Syros EV is expected to closely resemble the recently launched ICE-powered Kia Syros, with EV-specific updates such as:
- A closed-off grille
- Aerodynamic wheel designs
- Subtle blue accents
- A charging port on the front fender
The ICE Syros is already known for its bold, boxy stance and spacious cabin. The EV version is anticipated to retain the same strengths, offering generous interior space for its class along with premium features like:
- Dual 12.3-inch touchscreen displays
- Panoramic sunroof
- Ventilated seats
- 360-degree camera
- Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems)
- High-quality materials and thoughtful ergonomics
These features should help the Syros EV stand out in a segment where buyers increasingly expect car-like comfort and modern technology.
Local production of the Syros EV will help Kia keep costs competitive through higher localisation levels. This move aligns with the brand’s broader plan to expand its EV portfolio in India beyond premium offerings like the EV6 and EV9.By introducing an affordable, locally made electric SUV, Kia aims to tap into the growing demand for practical, value-for-money EVs among first-time electric car buyers and fleet operators.
The July 2026 debut places the Syros EV roughly three months from now (as of April 2026), making it one of the most eagerly awaited launches of the year. More details on exact variants, battery options, range certification (ARAI), and full feature list are expected in the coming weeks.
With strong expected pricing, a capable powertrain, and Kia’s signature bold design and feature-packed cabin, the Syros EV has the potential to become a volume driver for the Korean automaker in India’s competitive electric SUV market.
