JSW MG is preparing to launch a new electric and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV in India in August 2026, intensifying the battle in the premium electric SUV segment.The flagship electric variant will feature a 69 kWh battery pack and is expected to deliver an official range of around 600 km on a single charge. This range figure directly challenges the popular 70 kWh variant of the Mahindra XEV 9S, which also claims 600 km. JSW MG is clearly aiming to attract buyers who prefer the “sweet spot” battery size in the XEV 9S lineup.
By offering a 69 kWh battery with a claimed 600 km range, JSW MG is clearly targeting buyers who are currently considering the 70 kWh version of the Mahindra XEV 9S. The upcoming model aims to woo customers with competitive range, potentially attractive pricing, and the strong brand equity of MG in the Indian market.
The new SUV will be the first model built on JSW MG’s all-new ADAPT platform. It is based on the global Wuling Eksion/Starlight architecture from parent company SAIC Motor.
