JSW MG Motor India will launch its new electric and plug-in hybrid SUV on August 26. Expected to be called the Hector Hawk, it will be the first model based on the company’s new ADAPT (Advanced Drive Architecture Platform Technology) platform and will be offered with both battery-electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains.
The Hector Hawk is based on the internationally available Wuling Starlight 560 and is designed as a spacious 7-seater family SUV. Measuring approximately 4.7 metres in length with a wheelbase of around 2,810 mm, it is positioned to compete in the mid-size three-row segment.
The pure-electric version is expected to come with a 69.2 kWh battery pack paired with a front-mounted electric motor producing around 201 hp and 310 Nm of torque. It claims a range of up to 530 km on the CLTC cycle.The plug-in hybrid variant is likely to combine a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a battery pack of about 20.5 kWh, delivering a combined output of roughly 195 hp and 230 Nm. It is expected to offer up to 125 km of electric-only range, with a much higher total range when the petrol engine is used.
In MG’s lineup, the Hector Hawk will sit above the existing Hector and ZS EV models. The EV version is likely to rival the Mahindra XEV 9S, while the PHEV will take on the Mahindra XUV 7XO and similar three-row SUVs such as the Tata Safari.
Spy shots and international specifications suggest a modern design with rectangular LED headlamps, wraparound taillights, and a closed-off grille on the EV model. The interior is expected to feature dual digital screens (including a large touchscreen), a panoramic sunroof, Level 2 ADAS, ventilated seats, a 360-degree camera, and connected car technology.
Pricing is anticipated to start in the ₹18–22 lakh range (ex-showroom), though official figures will be revealed at the launch. The August 26 introduction marks a significant step for JSW MG as it expands its new-energy vehicle offerings with both pure-electric and plug-in hybrid options on a dedicated modular platform.
